Holy shite what an album, possibly their best.

Just revisited for the first time in years, still kicks arse especially second disc.

Anyone a fan?

It has some great tracks (title track especially) but overall it is definitely a notch below Funeral and The Suburbs. To my ears at least. Maybe even Neon Bible too. But I do like it.

Totally agree. The Arcade Fire magic, for me, is Funeral. Holy shite that album blew my mind. I really liked their other albums but they just never hit that captivating for me again. Same with Band of Horses. First few albums…. Blew my mind. Never recaptured it (and That includes the latest, which is really good). Not sure if that is a testament to when I discovered the bands and where I was in my life or some objective quality of the music.

Takes me back. Remember listening to that one a burned CD-R.

Their debut is still my favorite. I like their other stuff as well, but that's one hell of an intro to a catalog.

The SNL Special that they did, which followed an episode, was pretty awesome. LINK This aired before Reflektor was released and was the first time I had heard any of the songs on the album.

Yea Funeral is incredible, kind of captured that entire indie vibe that went through the 2010s which was a great time for music.

Yep. I was a huge jamband fan throughout college (but with pretty eclectic tastes of other genres). But I listened to a lot of OLD music (bluegrass, jazz, world, funk, punk etc...) at the time. Most of the new music I was into was jamband or rap.

Then a friend of mine who had moved away came to visit and brought his harddrive with all his music on it of stuff he'd been listening to: Band of Horses, Arcade Fire, etc.. and that began my foray into "current" music which has continued to this day.

I have a feeling WE is going to go back to the Funeral direction.

New Arcade Fire song The Lightning I, II.

Not to derail the thread or anything, but I’d recommend any Funeral fans to check out the new Black Country, New Roads album (Ants From Up There). I’ve heard it compared to Funeral a bunch. Personally, I don’t think it sounds that similar, but it is bombastic, emotive and loaded with different instruments. And really good.

I keep seeing this band mentioned. I've listened to the album a couple times. It has its moments...sort of sounds like DMB at times...but it's something about the guy's singing style. It's like he has this Bowie-esque voice but only has 1/4 the range. I feel like I'd like it if the vocals were a little more creative. They just kinda drone on for me.
