It helps that he had a successful solo career before and after Van Halen.

For some reason people seem to think that Sammy brought in all the keyboards and somehow "ruined" Van Halen. As if Roth had stayed or someone else had been brought in that Ed wouldn't have changed the sound. The truth is, Ed was responsible for the sound of the music. Period. There were many changes to the sound of the band in the mid 80s. All but Sammy's voice are Ed's choices. If the change in sound wasn't to your liking, look to Ed not Sammy.

Utter garbage music.

All the reasons to hate Van Hagar, right on the screen.

Diver Down is one of their best albums. If you don't believe that, you don't like Van Halen. Period

Diver Down isn't bad but the first four VH albums are in a class all their own.

This officially marked VH’s end as a rock and roll band and started their career as making music to play at weddings.

Comments like this are so fricking stupid.

Yeah, Dance The Night Away and Pretty Woman were real headbangers. Ignorant.

Most don't even realize/know that Sammy was the frontman for Montrose on their first two albums prior to going solo.

I saw VH with DLR & was not impressed. May have been an off-night for them, but clearly a far better studio band.

Was backstage for Sammy's VOA Tour (I can't drive 55) with Krokus warming things up...great show.

Van Hagar put out some good tunes, but could never do what the Van Halen debut album did to me.
