Really hard to pick 5.

1. BB King at Club Ebony in Inidanola (several times). Very small club where BB started. He would play every year for his homecoming. Stage was about a foot off the ground. Best was one year I was standing at the stage and as he finished The Thrill is Gone he handed me his pick and walked off.

2. Johnny Cash at HOB New Orleans. Buddy and I went and ran to front of stage. Stood at Johnny's feet the whole show. At the end I brought a 1969 LIFE magazine where Johnny was on the cover, a week after I was born, held it up with a pen and Johnny signed it.

3. Eric Clapton - HOB New Orleans. This was a small show with tables setup on the floor and only a few number of people allowed in. They sold tickets on the phone and sold out in like 15 min. Somehow I got through and wanted two but the lady told me they only had one left. I bought it. Got to the show and you picked the tickets up at the door as you walked in. I was one of first in line. The lady told me I had two tickets...I told her they only told me I had one otherwise I would have brought someone. She said she would refund it to me. Ended up refunding all of it, so I got to see the show free.

4. U2 - Joshua Tree Tour at the Summit in Houston

5. George Strait - First appearance at the Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston. We were supposed to see Eddie Rabbit. My dad had gotten suite tickets from someone and we were excited. When they announced Eddie wasn't going to be playing because he was sick and that George Strait would be playing, everyone said "Who!" until he played Amarillo By Morning.

Kinda surprised at all the Clapton mentions. I've seen him twice and was thoroughly underwhelmed both times.

#1. I saw the Jackson Five in Baton Rouge in the summer of 1981. It was their last tour before Michael went solo. We stood on the first row right in front of the stage. Incredible performance.

If you think Lenny Kravitz is the best performer you've ever seen, that tells me you've never seen Prince live.

You’re correct. I never saw Prince and regret it to this day. His Super Bowl performance is by my account one of the greatest television broadcasts of a live performance.

I saw Lk in the early ‘90s open for the Cult in Auburn at BEC. They had played in ATL the night before. Ticket sales for the night they played in Auburn were abysmal. LK got on stage and caught lightning in a bottle. Juxtaposed to the Cult... The Cult were simply lame. Ian Astbury threatened to walk off stage at one point.

Well I don’t remember most of the live shows I’ve been to but I’ve seen Rush like 9 tomes and they never had an off night... but one of the live shows I do remember was Bob Seger at the pavilion at pine knob near Detroit back in the late 70’s. When they started “Turn The Page” the sax player was swinging from the rafters for the opening.... it was crazy... then they kicked arse the rest of the night......

I was lucky enough to see Prince twice. Once in his heyday back in 1988 on the sixth row in Hampton, VA (awesome seats), and once at an intimate club (the Norva in Norfolk VA,1800 capacity) in 2001.

At the Norva show it was sro, and I was pressed up against the stage. I could have literally reached out and pulled Prince into the crowd if I wanted to.

I've been to dozens of shows over the last 40 years including Elvis Presley. NOBODY is even close to Prince as a live performer.

Couldn't agree more Tigah! Bossier show we were on the floor maybe 10 feet from the front. The stage was in the center of the arena though. Absolutely amazing on the guitar that night!

Wow. I’ve seen many great ones over the last 40+ years but the first ones to come to mind would have to be.........
Rolling Stones - 78 Lexington
Fleetwood Mac - 78 Lexington, L. Buckingham played absolutely possessed that night
Tom Petty - 2017 Dallas, 40th Annv Tour with Joe Walsh opening
Eagles - 1994 Hell Freezes Over Tour at the old Texas Stadium
Bob Dylan/Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at the Tokyo Budokan in March 1986.

Honorable mention - The Who - 1980, Paul McCartney 2017, and although not a huge Rod Stewart fan have to include his Oct 2001 concert in Shreveport. Was one of the first public events to roll after the country shut down following 9/11 attacks and he knocked it out of the park with his comments, patriotism, music, etc. Great Show.
