I'm a major Glen Campbell fan and saw this cover of Wichita Lineman from The Voice a few months back and thought it was pretty good, especially being live.
Pretty sure this group actually won the competition.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. I’m not a big fan of that cover, but those kids can flat sing three part harmony….something rarely done that well, live.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with their singing, I just don't think it's right for that song. It kind of detracts from the tension, that that song is supposed to have.

No argument from me on that point. The problem for folks trying to cover this song is the lack of the string arrangement, which creates the tension you’re speaking of. Not sure who scored it, but it’s fantastic.
At least in my mind. LOL.

The whole meaning and personalization get lost. Jimmy Webb is a hell of an arranger himself.
