Butler and brown may be better prospects than the two they kept

Oh Hollinger's write up, he starts suggesting teams should have drafted Sengun at pick 5...and never stops

murphy is wonderful selection.
can be better than memphis pick 10.
murphy shot 92% ft last season.
and hes big.
love the pick.
I was thinking murphy at 10 before the pick swap jv deal.

Vrenz would have to get a guaranteed contract it seems, which stopped teams from drafting him. Would have been a good D&S though for someone imo

I will explain it real quick. This is probably the hardest tweet I will ever tweet;
I was planned to get drafted early second round. I had multiple teams offering me two way deals. But because of my contract in europe, I wasnt be able to sign them it was against the rules

The only option was a guaranteed contract, I didnt received it.
It really hurts, I was really close.. But now, it is what it is. Can’t do anything at this moment. Its not in my hands
More fuel to work even harder! See yall soon, I promise

I don't understand why teams didn't draft him...I guess they were told if they did they'd face consequences from his agent and hurt their rep

Being from AL he would have been a nice fit on the G-League team. A two-way deal is good for him though.

He's making it sound like he needed a guaranteed deal to break his contract, but I also wonder if he needed a certain buyout amount as well. So maybe he wanted more than that 1st year guaranteed, which you don't usually do for 2nd rounders.

Either that or his current contract overseas has language that won't let him out of it unless he gets a guaranteed contract in the NBA. Definitely a bunch of legal shite

Jose Alvarado has agreed to a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, per a source.

found this on the interwebs, seems like his biggest knock is his size?
quote:
The Pelicans are set to sign a two-way deal with Georgia Tech point guard Jose Alvarado, reports Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Twitter link).
Alvarado logged four seasons with the Yellow Jackets. During his 2020/21 senior season, Alvarado averaged 15.2 PPG, 4.1 APG, 3.5 RPG, and a whopping 2.8 SPG, on .504/.390/.838 shooting.
The 2020/21 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Alvarado was also a two-time All-ACC honoree and was named to the 2020/21 All-ACC Tourney team. The 23-year-old Brooklyn native is considered a solid shooter, off-ball scorer and playmaker, but his lack of size or athleticism could limit his NBA ceiling.

Alvarado fits the mold of what we are looking for. Good shooter, passer, and defender. Can drive and create his own shot, but not the most athletic and definitely a little small. Seems like a good guy to give a chance as a backup PG.

I wonder how long that last. Maybe after next season it'll be easier for him to get out of the contract

I don't know if many people feel this way, but I'm actually much more excited for Herb Jones than I am for Murphy - I think Murphy will fill a decent role for us, but Jones is an impactful defender and a pretty talented and intense all around player - other than, of course, not being able to shoot at all.

The modern NBA doesn't have much room for defense only players. But I was impressed with the video of him breaking down his own play with Mike Schmitz. You could tell he watched film and read the scouting report before games and defended players based on it. With his length, study habits and BBIQ he could be a very good defender if he gets his offense serviceable enough to stay on the floor.

Depends on how good his defense will translate. If his defense is anywhere near close to Thybulle, he can be a rotational player even if his shot isn't reliable. I think he has good offball skills and hustle to get points from time to time but his free throw shooting will be the key.

People are sleeping on Jones. He can handle the ball and lead the break. Great passer and can get to the rim. I believe he will carve out a role on this team early

He was kind of the leader of that bama team.
His defense and iq will get him a role.
