I know we are supposed to hate the Lakers
But Reaves is good and I don’t mind that he is hooping.
Lot of unjustified hate in this thread for a hard working, high IQ basketball player.
Dude controlled and flawlessly orchestrated the entire game tonight in a game where AD, Booker, Cp3 and D Lo played in.
CJ should study Austin’s game film from tonight. What Reaves did tonight is what we need from him. Not chucking 9 wild heat check threes a game with a broken hand.

It's Lebrons 20th anniversary..
They WILL be in the playoffs

The point he was making is he wasn't getting the calls when he was playing.

Coincidental that Lakers differential is more than double the 2nd place team? There is clearly either a bias or an intent.
They also lead the league in FTA.
The league wants the Lakers in the playoffs. It explains how Reaves had 14 fta last night and players like Ingram cant even get to the line.

Not unjustified because I was watching the game last night, not the stat line. He was getting some extremely generous calls where he was barely even touched, compare that to when Zion has to get full on hacked to get a call.
Monty called out the league in his press conference as to how a team possibly accumulated 46 FTs in one game, Book and CP3 echoed the sentiment

Consistency is the problem. I’ve said it before but it’s not unique to the NBA as the same has happened with the NFL. Officiating is judgement calls but there has been a shift where I think most casual fans of these leagues would prefer to see higher scoring games and more offense. The defensive players are handicapped by the officiating rules and there is no consistency from one quarter to the next. The “stars” are called differently than the average player and we’re starting to have more NBA players/coaches voice their frustration with the officials (FVV, Monty) recently.
I don’t have any stats or anything to back this up because it’s just my thoughts and observations over the years. I did see the stats where the Lakers outnumber every other team by a large margin in attempted free throws this year. I guess it’s possible it’s a chicken and egg situation but I wish there was more consistency because it makes the games hard to watch at times.

I'm having a hard time concentrating at work because this makes me so mad. Ugh.

I watched the game too and was pulling for the Suns obviously.
But Reaves played well and he earned many of his free throws.
Booker did deserve a few more free throws. I’ll admit that. But this Suns thing where all they do is complain about free throw disparity is getting old.
For the most part all they do is shoot mid range and three pointers. They don’t really get to the rim at all and that is what leads to their nightly ft disparity.
And last night, they didn’t even have Ayton and so CP3 wasn’t even passing it to the roll man. He was just shooting 16 footers all night. Resulted in him only getting 4 assists and the low ft attempt numbers from the Suns.

quote:Disagree. Reaves was getting superstar ticky tack calls. He gets a lot of calls by creating contact outside of a normal basketball move. Someone like Harden gets those calls. Most others do not. If Reaves played on another team, he would not get half of those calls.

Over/Under 9.5 FTs for super star Austin Reaves tonight. The game is in LA, therefore, I will be taking the over
Posted on 3/24/23 at 7:59 pm to spaghettioeauxs
Reaves said it’s a business and he tries to get the most money. Hope he keeps doing great so the bidding war for him will be high.
Posted on 3/24/23 at 8:27 pm to spaghettioeauxs
Thunder are near the top for fouls per game so it might be a safe bet. I expect Reaves to continue being aggressive and make plays to help the Lakers succeed.
