One thing I will say is thank goodness the Wizards and knicks gave a frick down the stretch this season.

Especially the Wizards with two big wins over the Mavs and Wolves.

The Kings still have a chance to catch the Lakers if they win their last 2 and the Lakers lose 2 of their last 3. Both of the Kings remaining opponents (LAC and PHX) will likely be resting their starters. And LBJ and AD may sit the rest of the way now that they’re eliminated. So it’s possible that Lakers pick moves up to the 7th best odds by Sunday night

The Wizards are effectively figuring out what they have in KP considering how much they are paying him.

Not bad considering they dumped shite contracts on Dallas to get him.

This is the bizzaro Austin Rivers pick fiasco, where the Twolves just kept winning, making our pick worse and worse.

Difference here is that we expected the Wolves to be themselves.

We were hoping the Lakers would implode but didn’t think it would happen this soon.

LeBron has a scoring title to win so he won't be sitting. Not sure if that will result in any wins though

as of today

Lakers are locked into the 8th spot pre-lottery. Three teams would have to jump them when the lotto balls are pulled for the pels to not get their pick. At 8, 26% chance of top 4 and 6% chance of 1st overall

Pels magic number to host the 9/10 game is one. The only way they don’t is if they lose the last two and the spurs win the last two. Regardless the pels will play the spurs on Wednesday

if the pels do not win both play in games their pick will be in the lottery and will convey to POR completing the CJ trade. If they do win both games their pick will fall to 15 and will go to CHA to complete the DG trade.

Pels are playing with house money now (finally) and all the pressure is off.

as a result of the LAL pick not going to MEM, pels will send CLE 2022 2nd round pick and NOP 2025 2nd round pick to MEM

agree, who would have thought Washington and NYK would be playing hard down the stretch.

Washington is surprising, but the Knicks are too inept an organization to succeed at anything. Tanking included.

Have to add Portland to that list there the real MVP. Traded us CJ, then beat the Lakers after trading CJ, then they went into super tank mode and became a stimulus package for us and SAS in catching and passing the Lakers.

Washington kind of had to see what they have with KP. Sato actually playing worth a damn was nice too.
Young guys like Kispert/Gafford/Avidjia/Hachi etc played hard.

Thibs has never been huge on tanking if I recall.

that’s an excellent point. None of this happens without Portland

Does the play in matter at all for draft pick seeding? I'm guessing not, but just throwing it out there.

Scenario: Spurs beat us, but then lose the 2nd play in game. I assume the Spurs would still draft ahead of us but just curious if beating us but still missing the playoffs would somehow have them finishing ahead of us and thus picking in the draft behind us?

The teams that are in the play-in, but miss the playoffs are back in the lottery using their original regular season results.

Do the pelicans receive the 1st round pick if it’s not in top 4?

We lost our own pick by making the playoffs.

We will only have the Lakers pick.
