Its also reported he signed off Nets too. I mean personally think we have way more talent than they do.

Agreed but it seems stars always gravitate to some combination of either contending/stable organization and/or a big market.

New Orleans doesn't fit any of those 3 criteria.

You’re right about the big market- we cant control that but its sad that we can control the stable/contending organization part but have failed. Sometimes thats been due to injuries, bad luck and/or bad management.

I think lot of frustration comes from the fact Griffin still fails to deliver on a major trade to upgrade this team whether thats Dame, Scoot, etc. The CJ trade was good about year and half ago but its obvious with how the rest of the NBA is trending this team may need more. The fans want to see Griffin do more than sign Zeller and draft Hawkins. Those moves honestly arent needle movers. Frankly, I dont blame people piling on Griffin due to the inactivity this offseason for a team that lost to OKC in the play-in.

Lost in all this is why did the Suns trade Ayton for Allen and Nurkic? Makes no sense to me. They aren’t saving any money and Ayton is better, a better fit, younger and less injury prone. Ayton works well with face pace while Nurkic is a strong slow lumbering center like Jonas

They got more role players and most the star players on the team were tired of his issues of not playing hard. They don’t really need his scoring and thats the best thing he does. Honestly they dumped him and kind of surprised they couldn’t do better.

I agree. Ayton is miles better than Nurkic and none of the other guys they got are gonna play real minutes in the playoffs when rotations shrink. They must’ve really hated ayton to dump him like that.

Ayton gets a lot of shite and some of it rightfully so but he is a really good player. Every time we play the suns I come away impressed by him

They absolutely did. Ayton fricking hates Monty, even though they got rid of him the damage between him and that franchise was done.

He loves playing against Val. He's basically a far more athletic version of him. Similar game, Ayton just bigger and stronger.

The dude checks out mentally, or he's just soft. He killed us in he playoffs and shat the bed the very next series against Dallas.

That’s his only issue. If he had some semblance of a dog in him he would be a top 3 center

For sure, front office is becoming Ainge part 2. Building around Zion and BI was a logical choice, and to their credit they have built up around the margins with CJ, Herb, TM3, and hopefully Dyson.

They have struggled mightily at the pivot position where those assets should have netted a mobile big that can protect the paint either through trade or the draft that they had an abundance of assets available.

Yeah, they've lost a ton of the small moves they've made that would've netted a very talented player if they just pooled those assets together. I mean we gave up 2 1sts for adams and graham and then gave up more assets to get rid of them. Jax, NAW, and Kira are another 3 wasted 1sts. Outside of Trey and herb this FO has been poor in the draft and you can't survive as a small market team if you're bad at drafting

You’re making a lot of assumptions. I never said he would want to come here but the fact people arguing its useless trading for him makes no sense.
But it is a fruitless argument if it was never even a possibility. Whether we like it or not, he had a say in where he was going.

The athletic does report new orleans was one of the interested teams for Dame but yeah not sure if he wanted us. I love how Griffin has the pelicans as an interested team but never pulling the trigger whether its Dame or other guys.

I think long-term they save money as Allen is an expiring. Also, as others mentioned, Ayton scores but Nurkic is a better passer. Personally, I like Ayton a lot more, but I guess it was fit.

Yeah, we are always "interested" but I guess the players (or other teams) are never interested in us. Dame, Durant, Scoot....

Scoot was I heard interested. Even met with us before the draft according to Shams. Dame and Durant you’re probably right. Lets see what Scoot becomes but he was absolutely gettable by the pelicans.

Scoot was very interested in joining the pels. I think we'll regret not trading for him. Dude is an alpha

Without knowing definitively what Portland wanted for him, it is hard to say “Yeah, we should have gotten him.”

I figure Portland wanted Zion, Daniels, Trey, and multiple firsts for Scoot, Nurcic, and some other trash.

I think just based off rumors it was either Zion/BI and first. I dont believe Dyson and Trey were on the table. I heard pelicans were also pushing hard for Sharpe which they wouldn’t include. Besides Trey who I wouldn’t include, I like Scoot that I might do some combo of Zion or BI and/or first or dyson honestly. The fact was he was gettable- if you think hes a franchise changer. If you dont then maybe thats too much. My thing is if you think someone can change your franchise you find a way to get him.
