Again, maybe pumping sunshine and misplaced optimism… said something at the end of the broadcast which may have been missed with everyone tuning out…

Joel ‘Who knows, who knows who comes back? There’s a couple of guys waiting in the wings …Zion and Jose’

AD ‘Right’

Joel ‘they could get healthy and be back next week…’

If Zion returns next week, it would be very telling in terms of what Griffin is doing. When there started to be a lot of complaints about BI and his linerging toe issue, an article appears in NOLA expressing skepticism about how serious the injury was and whether BI was milking it. Few days later and BI magically returns. Now, you have the "Zion just doesn't feel up to it" article with an interview with Griffin. If Zion returns next week, that's not a coincidence. That's Griffin finally having enough BS from players milking injuries and starting to go public with the org's concern. I still doubt you see Zion play again this season (including playoffs), but this will get intriguing. And, I'm still not the biggest Griffin fan. The make-up of this roster is a hot mess and falls on him.

Posts that mention Zion should be taken down. He’s not coming back. Focus on our actual team.

Last year it was "Zion would have been available for a 2nd round series."

This year it will be "Zion would have been available for a 1st round series."

Yes, Zion’s hammy is made from dental floss.

Hamstring is a series of muscles, it's not a ligament or something. This could have likely been prevented with proper stretching, which is what makes hamstring injuries all the more frustrating to me.

ETA: It seems at least one person on TD hates stretching lol. Who downvotes posts that are attempting to be helpful?

Stretching improves range of motion. It doesn’t prevent muscle pulls though really. Warming up does. Zion pulled his late in a game. He was warm.

I don't want to turn this to nerdy medical talk between a bunch of people who really aren't qualified to talk about medical topics, but when he first got injured a lot of the articles I came across did say stretching helps prevent hamstring injuries.

quote:

Outcomes appear to be especially strong when stretching is conducted post-exercise when the muscles are fatigued. Verrall, Slavotinek & Barnes (2005) demonstrated that hamstring stretches conducted during breaks in training and after a training session resulted in a significant decrease in hamstring strain occurrence when implemented as part of a holistic approach to injury prevention. The rationale given for its effectiveness is that stretching improved force absorption, making the muscles more resistant to a stretch injury. This finding supports a study conducted by Dadebo, White & George (2004), who found that among elite British football players, the absence or presence of hamstring stretching was the most important correlate of hamstring strain rates.

more than likely
Stress reactions are like a 8-12 week recovery process.
Jose has been out for almost 6 weeks now, and you could tell it was something that was bothering him before he was officially out.

I don't think anyone thinks Jose would milk an injury either. If they told him he could play this week, i'm pretty sure we all assume he would suck it up and give it his all and actually play.

Since the statement about Zion earlier this week, I’ve realized our local press deserves some of this blame. They’re suddenly critical, which could be some over-compensation for sleeping through the year.

There’s a hole in the roster at the power forward position. Other then that the roster is top 10 in the league.

No. There's a gigantic chasm in this roster at the PG position and SG position. This team cannot hit 3s and has no one to bring up the ball and be a playmaker. Counting on Zion to play the PG position is asinine at this point. Even if that's the role you envision for him, you need, at least, one other viable option at PG. Presently, there is none. And, the W/L record belies your argument that this is a top 10 roster.

No. We have no one capable of playing the power forward.
