You would think. However, knowing soft arse Silver, he may increase it from 8 games to 10 games.

I suspect he did and that might be what comes out. If he traveled on the team plane with an undeclared firearm, that would be illegal.

If he carried it in states where he was not permitted - that is illegal.

If he took it to an away game in Canada - that would be international arms trafficking - 50 years federal penalty.

He's already been suspended for the exact same thing, so why are you still not sure if it's against the rules?

In all fairness to him. He didn’t actually do anything illegal from what we’ve seen. Yes, he was flashing a gun but he’s of age to carry. Besides, how many senators, congressmen/congresswomen, as well as other elected officials are caught in pictures and videos flashing guns/assault rifles and sometimes with their children doing it? But they get applauded for it?

What’s the difference?

The people who pay Ja money don't want him to do it. That is the difference.

There's certainly more context to it. The politicians you referenced aren't flashing a gun while singing along to a song that talks about murdering people with guns. We can't pretend that context doesn't matter at all. But ultimately, the difference is right above. Ja's bosses don't want him to do it, it'll cost them money.

That investigation has closed, by the NBA and whatever city he was in at the time of the initial incident.

There is no criminal investigation for the new allegation, only an NBA one. There won't be some crazy bombshell where the NBA comes out and says he broke some law and thus is getting hammered a bit more. If so, there would be a criminal investigation going on right now too.

Well, he was originally suspended for flashing a gun at a strip club. You can’t carry guns in clubs normally because that could be seen as a threat or robbery. That’s a bit different than in a car with a friend. There’s a difference.

That’s fair and a good point!

That’s not true. All they talk about Defend, Fight, Kill, etc. They might not use the word murder in public but it’s highly insinuated with some can consider racist undertones. The real difference is one is viewed as a thug while the others are viewed as a God fearing American.

Really? How would your employer feel, particularly a high profile profession? Also, there was some speculation that he had it at team events.

So you don't see any difference in people owning guns, taking pictures of guns and talking about using guns to, as you said, defend yourself...vs dancing around and flashing your gun in a car while rapping along to lyrics from a rapper who has a shite ton of songs but more importantly, the specific song you're singing at the moment is talking about murdering people?

Really?

Not 100%, but I'm pretty sure the dude they were rapping along with has been shot and also has shot someone before.

You also mentioned racial undertones. I'm white as can be. If I did what Ja did on social media and my job found out, I'd be fired on the spot, so not sure how this is racial?

Anyone posing with a gun except after hunting is a douche. Singing some shitty rap song about crime while holding one is the ultimate sign of stupidity.

I also think the assault rifle Christmas cards are cringe as hell too.

This country has a gun cult

No doubt, firearms are the leading cause of death for children in America, good for the nba for taking action. Ja will miss at least half the season hopefully.

I do agree with this.

They're all dumb, but like you said, there are varying levels of dumb. And Ja went to the ultimate dumb level of posing with a gun.

What should have gotten him smacked harder was the incident at Indiana where a laser pointer was aimed at a team employee, which was believed to be a laser sight on a gun.

Given his subsequent bullshite, I find it very easy to believe it was one.

Completely agree.

That should have been a huge deal, it's pretty shocking it wasn't. From what I gather, you couldn't see the laser on the security cams, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen...but you could see Security reacting like they saw the laser, so it's a safe bet that it happened.

Maybe it wasn't a gun at all, but that's almost irrelevant because the intent was to have Security think it was a gun, and that alone should be a crime. Not sure if that Security carries guns, but if so, that could easily have caused one of them to freak out, pull out his gun and start shooting, then you know darn well Ja and his camp would have been more than happy to join in the shootout.

Yeah, the problem isn't the gun itself. The problem is Ja's history of threats.

Threatening to shoot random people on Twitter is bad. It's kinda frowned upon by Silver. Threatening the teenager at the pickup game. Threatening the security guard in the parking lot at the mall. Threatening Pacers staff and family.

So, can we please stop talking about this simply in the context of guns? It's not about the gun. It's about using the gun to amplify threats and presenting oneself as a person who is happy to use a gun to murder others.

That’s a huge problem that I’m not advocating against. If it’s not about guns but threats and foolish antics then I completely agree with you. However, if we suspend Ja for holding a gun on live then that’s kinda messed up.

That’s my point. It’s completely stupid and terrible for kids who look up to him. But an argument can be made that he shouldn’t be suspended for it.

Remember fellas threatening with a weapon or while possessing a weapon is aggravated assault. He is teetering on felony assault depending on evidence and how lenient the DA there is. No one should be defending this douche in any way. I’m pissed that he has and possibly still will get away with multiple felonies and has only gotten heat for anything because he is a dumbass wannabe thug. He is literally a Papa Doc

Why?

I can't stand the AR Christmas Cards but it's still different than holding a pistol (probably illegal) and singing murder lyrics.

That’s impossible because you did not break any laws. They don’t know if that’s your legally owned gun (I assume your or age to carry) and it’s freedom of speech to sing a song. I don’t know where you work but it’s against the law to fire you for that.

How do you know if it’s illegal? What difference does it make? They both are all still posting it to the public.

Ok let’s ignore all the known shite he has done and focus on the gun flashing videos for a moment exclusively. Would anyone here still have their job tomorrow if we did that shite? Nope. Not to mention the NBA actually has rules against this and stands to lose millions and potential billions of revenue of this isn’t canned quickly. He has kids, shite his own kids, to set an example for. He rather be a wannabe thug and perpetuate a cycle than try and stop it and show kids with no hope that they can make it out if they dedicate their lives to something
