Wonder if this is a setup for a blockbuster with Rockets, Knicks, Cavs, and forth team?

The Knicks can send back Melo who might help keep LeBron in town. I wonder if the Knicks would go as far as trading Melo and Porzingis for Kyrie and Love? You probably need to send Porzingis to a 3rd team.

Cavs get Bledsoe/Melo/Courtney Lee
Knicks get Irving/Love
Suns get Porzingis and a bad contract like Shumpert

I'm not even sure if picks need to be exchanged. Everyone kind of gets a good deal.

Don't see why Knicks would deal Portzingis though as I would think they would want to pair him with Irving. Maybe a trade centered around Melo and Irving with the Cavs unloading Thompson and Shumpert and getting Lee and O'Quinn. May need a pick headed to Cavs as well (if Knicks have any or can acquire any) or if they have not signed their draft pick (Ntilikina), they could ship his draft rights in the deal.

The Lowe Post from a few days ago was all Knicks talk and Ian Begley or Howard Beck said the issue with the Knicks and Porzingis isn't just about Phil Jackson, it's about Porzingis wanting to be catered to and treated like a cornerstone. He said it should be simple to smooth things over but if they didn't Porzingis could eventually do what Greg Monroe did and just sign his qualifying offer to become a UFA. That's a pretty rare occurence, so for ESPN to have been told by the Porzingis camp that that was on the table says things are still pretty bad between the 2 sides. Irving/Love lets the Knicks be a playoff team now and maybe takes enough pressure off Hardaway that he doesn't look like a terrible deal.

Thought the same thing. When would you have expected Minnesota to be a preferred destination for a star player?
Never.

Things have always been pretty rocky between the knicks and KP

They might sell high

Kyrie/Love also looks fairly appealing to FAs next year

On the other hand why would the knicks be a destination besides it being NY?

I can def see Miami/SA with their success/culture but minny/nyk?

Heck, if that were the case, the Cavs may prefer to deal directly with the Knicks and take on Portzingis themselves.

So he wants to go somewhere that he can be the man, but yet wants to go to San Antonio??

1) Kawhi>Kyrie
2) Kawhi shoots more than Lebron does
3) Since when would Pop be cool with and cater to Kyrie with his ISO dominant offense??

If Melo is able to get LeBron to stay you trade for Melo. If Melo can't guarantee that then looking at Porzingis instead as your new franchise player when LeBron leaves would be the way to go. I don't think Cleveland getting both would work out. Not enough PF minutes to go around for all 3 star players and if Porzingis is already unhappy about not being the man next to Melo, he probably wouldn't be happy following Melo into LeBron's shadow.

Zach Lowe?
I am kinda weirdly intrigued with a Anthony Davis/Kyrie pairing. Kyrie for Boogie straight up seems too crazy. Hmm...

I don't think it's happening but one thing I will say is that "Kyrie for Buddy and Zach Collins" is not something Zach Lowe would have ever tweeted about.

LeBron is smart. he knows Melo aint helping him beat the Warriors in the Finals. doubt that is a clincher for him to stay. besides, Melo and the entire Banana Boat crew will all be able to be FA next year.

will be interesting to see what the Cavs go for if they do trade Irving- best long term package or win now?

personally, i'm not terribly high on Irving's game. unstoppable ISO scorer, to be sure. but not sure you want him as the lead guy on your team. and anyone dumb enough to ask out of playing next to LeBron freaking James is not someone i'd be fired up to have on my team

Unless Cleveland actually manages to get someone of Kyrie's caliber back(Boogie?), I wonder what the chances are that Lebron hits the nuke button and decides he wants out now, too.

With what would be left in Cleveland, there's no shot he's not getting swept by GS next year.

Also, we did hear a TON about how Lebron and Cleveland didn't care about Paul George being on an expiring contract. They seemed content with making a one year run and/or convincing PG to stay after he was there.

not now, but next year
he'll be a laker

he can basically take this season off if they trade irving now, no matter what they get back

What would minnesota have to offer for Irving? I mean I doubt they are trading Butler or KAT. Wiggins isn't worth it either.
