Ha has been talked about a lot though as a player with high potential of course but is raw and needs time to develop. And in this scenario the suns would make another move or two to help in the efforts of making them more competitive now.

They can try to jumpstart things but that whole organization is such a mess that it won’t go anywhere.

Sarver needs to hire someone who knows what they are doing then stay out of the way. And neither will happen because I don’t see James Jones as a quality GM nor will Sarver let his front office run things without interference.

I agree with this. I dont value these Bostons assets nearly as much as everyone else. None of them including Tatum scream top 20 nba player to me. A deal with a top two pick and a few other assets....well take it and run.

And you can say the same thing about the Knicks deal outside of the lottery pick.

Exactly, I’ll take two already good players with potential to be even better with Tatum and Brown than any Knicks deal with a top 2 pick. I’d take Tatum, brown and garland over morant and knicks players

In a vacuum, sure.

But the issue with Brown is this -- You are going to have to either give him 25 mil per year (maybe more) or let him walk.

I hate being in that position. To me, I would almost rather have a guy who is a bust that I can just let go than be put in that position of having a guy who is good, but now I have to decide whether to overpay or let him go.

I guess you pay Brown the money and hope he improves, knowing that even if he doesn't you can probably still dump him like the Wiz did Otto Porter, but I still feel thats just a waste of time and resources. This is why I keep pushing for the Boston assets to go elsewhere, so that can be someone else's problem.

Yea I know what you’re saying. Definitely wouldn’t make sense for Knick’s to go for holiday at that point or Cleveland. But Chicago or suns having the second pick would likely be the only scenarios where that could even be considered

So you take Brown, Smart, Tatum, 14th pick, and 22nd pick over the following knicks offer.

2nd pick, Dennis Smith, Robinson, Frank, mavs 2021 unprotected, mavs 2023 top ten protected?

I think the knicks package would create much more flexibility for the front office for the next five years. Basically with the Celitcs trade if Tatum doesnt become great it goes in toilet. There is value to those Mavs picks being down the road.

Yes, I would 100%.

I could be wrong in that decision, but I would do it.

Lets say you go with the Knicks package and Frank and Smith dont pan out. Well your assets still include....

Jrue Holiday contract.
Pels own first round pick
Robinson
Mavs 2021
Mavs 2023
Morant
All picks going forward
Cap flexibility.
Seems like a great spot to be in.

Include the Memphis pick with the Boston deal and yes I would. Dallas in 2021 might not be as bad as you hope they’ll be with doncic improving and porzingis playing.
From what I’ve heard from knicks fans, Franks defense wasn’t as good as his rookie year and obviously his offense is utter garbage. I like Robinson and Knox is fine but the Celtics deal for me is a better option.

I don’t think jaylen will ask for 25 mil personally. The guy has been a bench player his whole career and can look at guys like KCP as examples to not get too greedy.

This really all depends what kind of rebuild griffin wants to do. I’m just afraid if we go too young with rookies and picks that it’s a lesser chance of success in the next 5 years and we’ll start looking like the suns

Players don't "ask for" an amount. The market dictates what they get. And he will be a RFA as the cap goes up and a ton of bad deals from the Solomon Hill summer come off the books. It just takes one team to throw a max offer sheet at him, and at least one will do it.

I'd rather not be in that position. I'm more than happy to flip him to a 3rd team. But my overall point is that if you really look at the Celtics assets individually and project them forward, they really aren't that good. The flexibility that a Knicks or Clippers package can offer is more appealing to me. Only way I like Celtics offer more is if a third team gets involved to take some of those other items and give me something I like better

Do you really think someone will offer Jaylen Brown a max deal? That would shock me.

Morant. Tatum just doesn’t have that IT factor to me.

Yea I mean overall ceiling Morant no doubt. I see Jaylen and Tatum both with star potential. But not really as superstars. Morant has that potential to me. I wouldn’t be mad about either guy coming to our team as center pieces of a trade, but as of now I still like Tatum brown and smart bc they are proven Good players with room to grow. Look at how smarts jumpshot improved this year and he’s the oldest of the bunch. And then make smart draft picks. Bring back Julius Randle as well if price isn’t too steep on another short deal maybe 2 years though. Try that out for a season let the moore and Solomon hill deals come off the books and then reassess and make moves such as trading jrue for another young core member or a pick.

One more thing to note. First good game Tatum has in playoffs people will come on here and go nuts. Harrell and SG Alexander had 26 and 18 last night and I mentioned could be good assets in a clippers trade among other things and everyone laughed.

Some people will do that. Smart people won't. Smart people know about sample size, recency bias, etc etc.

Thats why smart people need a separate place, free from the "others"
