As bad as the FA market is, Tyreke is probably in the top 3 of non star level FAs this year. So he could get paid, but not many teams will have much cap space this summer either, especially playoff caliber teams. And you don't have to actually be in the tax to use the taxpayer MLE. You just have to be close enough to the tax that you fear getting hardcapped like the Pels were last summer.
The Pels would be as attractive a situation as any other team offering the taxpayer MLE. The Pels can't compete with the full MLE though.

Listened to Mac’s pod. I do like the idea of buying an early 2nd a lot. Makes sense financially especially the way they laid it out. I really wish we had a 1st this year, but I’m very happy with Niko, and getting rid of that horrendous Asik contract
A Donte Divencenzo on this team would be badass but I think he goes early 20s maybe even the teens.

Wonder if Diallo, 2nd and 2019 or 2020 first could net us pick 20-25 in this years draft.

Dell will save that 2020 first for someone near the deadline

The team is in win now mode. There's no way they trade Diallo for a 1st round pick that probably can't earn as many minutes as Diallo. It would have to be a situation where they felt a Kawhi or Jimmy Butler fell.
I do think they'd trade 2nds and cash to get back into the draft, but that only gets you into the 2nd round. I have to think that 1st is earmarked for an Asik/Niko type of move later.

I would say the 35th pick has about the same chance as succeeding as the 25th pick, if put in the right situation, so that would be a terrible idea.
We aren't trading into the 1st round, and i doubt we trade up into the early 2nd, unless we find a guy we really like, which has happened the last two years, and we go buy that pick. As ATL alluded to, Philly isn't making 4 draft picks this year in the top 40, and they have two picks in the 50's. Unless they are drafting their entire G-Leauge team roster, they aren't making all those picks. I would think we could buy 38-39 pretty easily.
Atlanta has 3 first round picks, and then the 33rd in the 2nd.
I'd say those are the potential suitors if we want to buy into the early 2nd, adn that would mean we'd have to really like someone, someone we felt had 1st round talent, and that guy fell into the 2nd round, like Frank and Diallo.

I don't see them spending assets to move up in the draft as oposed to using those assets to acquire proven players evne if role players.

It would have to be the right guy like a Melvin Frazier, plus I'm not talking about spending much. The Warriors spent $3.5 million to buy the pick they used on Bell. That's the equivalent of our current 2nd and $2.5 million in cash.

Buy the early 2nd round pick, sell our late 2nd round pick like Mc suggested. It makes sense
Posted on 5/23/18 at 2:16 pm to CocoLoco
Plus I forgot to mention that's $2.5 million in 2017-18 cash since the draft is before the league calendar flips in July. It wouldn't affect the cash we have to use in trades nor the bottom line on next year's tax team.

The stakes are what make the playoffs mean so much, and suddenly the stakes are very high in both the East and the West - this is only the third time in the past 20 years both conference finals have been tied 2-2, with HUGE Game 5's up ahead.
I have no idea how much each game in each round is worth, but we do know that last year's playoffs with a 4-0 and 4-1 Conference Finals and a 4-1 Finals made the salary cap go down $2 million from the projection we got in April. Root for these to go 7 games and for the finals to go 7 as well.
Posted on 5/23/18 at 3:53 pm to TigerinATL
I'll root for them to go 7 games, but i'm still not watching them.
I can't stand watching the Warriors, the Rockets, or Lebron and i'm not going to unless they are playing the Pelicans.

another interesting FA contract situation is chris paul
assuming HOU does not win it this year are they really thinking they’ll commit long term to him?

I would take CP3 back in a heartbeat.
Loved what Rondo brought to the team, but i'd welcome him back with open arms.
You get CP3, and finding someone at the 3 isn't that important anymore.
CP3 and Cousins don't get along, although CP3 and Reddick didn't get along either before they became teammates.
Houston would never do it though, as they would need to help us out with that S&T. I'm sure they'd love Niko though, but they'd have to take on someone like Solo as well and there's no way they would do that.

I’d welcome him back here too but that ain’t gonna happen.
just interesting what they decide to do
there’s no way IMO Morey commits to a max to Paul given his age and their cap sheet, although if they win the GWS series I guess all bets are off. Also depends on what happens with capela. I don’t see a taker for ryno and his two more years so the rox are in just as much a pickle as the pels are with boogie

Philly has two firsts and four second rounders
they wont take 6 prospects
they may trade up
but I would call Colangelo with offer of
Up to 2,5 millions plus pick 51 for pick 38 or 39
Phila will stash another guy and have a roster spot

Great idea.
Then maybe if we are really greedy use those two picks to move up again.
