he will be the coach for 50 more games. sounds like a good chance for him to me

That's kind of the first thing I thought of too.

I'm pretty sure they don't have to worry about anyone poaching him from the team midseason so just let things play out and make an informed decisions after the season.

you have to consider how long to play this out at the risk of losing him to a bigger market team.

I would have no problem with that. I have been very happy with the team's performance the last few weeks. But remember, Borrego has been an integral part of the coaching staff the whole time. What was he doing before?
I say we wait a little longer.

I want to see how we respond once we get punched in the face. Happens to every team not named OKC. It’s easy to front run. Willie was an amazing front runner.

If we can oscillate through adversity? Give him the team.

The team looks a lot different with him. I
think he needs to be permanent..

The interim tag is his chance and it's too early to make these decisions. They've certainly played better but even in the win streak the best wins were the Rockets (a good team) and Bulls (under. 500). Plenty time to get more tape and decide later.

Yes, I was just telling my brother that. This man is a real coach, the difference between him and Green is night and day. I mean that's why they wouldn't give him up to the New York Knicks when they wanted him as a top assistant. Dumars needs to make the move and upgrade him to permanent!

Zero chance, not happening.

He should have been the coach to start the season. Last season. It is insane that the franchise stuck with WG so long. Normally, I think teams are way too quick to replace the head coach but the Pelicans did the opposite and killed their chances in two different seasons as a result of it. Even if they were relatively healthy last season, I doubt we are anything more than a play-in team becuase of how inept WG really was as a coach.

Unfortunately, the Pels didn't kill any chances because there is zero chance Gayle Benson would pay the salary that Mike Malone would command.

That also doesn't even touch on another thing, I see no reason why a dude like Mike Malone would even consider coming here.
