My point is that it's nothing more than just sports radio/tv fodder to keep the lights on in the lighter months of the sports calendar. There is really no value in figuring out if you won or lost a trade the day a trade is made.

That's hindsight bias.
You have to evaluate the trade in real time based on likely outcomes at the time of the decision, like all other decision-making.
