The experts are puzzled that the Pelicans should be more competitive even with all the injuries. Can anyone explain it ? I'm a season ticket holder for years. I have never seen anything like this Pelican team. I can also say that I have never seen so much apathy towards the Pels among people I know. I didn't go, or even try to sell my tickets to the game last night. I would not have been able to find someone to go with anyway. My daughter, and my wife said "no thanks". Why is this team this bad? The players are people just like the fans. I would bet the majority of Pelicans fans never want to see Zion on the court in the Smoothie Center. I would bet the players feel the same way. Get rid of him ASAP. He alone has made this franchise the laughing stock of the NBA. His teammates I'm sure feel the same way. Imagine being his teammate, and he dresses out less than 50% to go to war with you. The team has quit because of #1. That's why this team is not competitive. Period!!!

We have no bench, physically soft, and poorly managed/coached. We are outmatched every game. We need a total overhaul..

So are the Magic but they are beating playoff teams and competing in the games they are losing all without their 2 star players.

I'm curious what the feel is within the team on this. I think just about every fan has had enough of him. He has little trade value though so it really doesn't make a lot of sense to trade him, even though that's what we all would like to see.
But i'm curious if his teammates still support him and want him or if they would rather see him move on.

I agree, but I don't have the desire to get into every mistake this franchise has made since Griffin has taken over. I will admit, that Griffin has been bit by loads of bad luck, but it's time to move on from him too. The latest move may be a mistake too. Murray for Daniels. ?????? I was all in on Dyson. He's the type of role player you win championships with. Dyson is a tenacious defender from every position. One through five. He averages 13.5 points a game, 3.5 steals, and leads the league in deflections. There are so many holes on this roster, but the largest in my opinion is the lack of defense, and toughness. Dyson Daniels is a dog, and will have a long long career. Trust me when I say he will be coveted by many teams on his next contract.

We are tanking...end of story.

So...look for a silver lining on a "DARK CLOUD" of a season.

What can we do? Try & convince Trey to learn how to do something constructive with his overall development as a basketball player. I DON'T REALLY CARE how many C&S 3s he makes...just try & learn how to be a better basketball player...at both ends. He's got another 50 "practice games"...so time to get busy.

Herb? Turn him loose offensively...it'll probably be a bit of rough sailing for a while...and he'll have to learn on the fly. But who cares?...WE'RE TANKING.

Just let Missi PLAY...he's gradually get better & (hopefully) better.

Let all the rest of our "wonderful" players just continue to fog up as many shots as they possibly can...nevermind trying to make an occasional pass...and continue to play that fantastic defense. Rest assured...the Tank...will take care of itself.

We are bad because our coaching is bad. Even when competitive, anyone should be able to see the major lack of direction and planning on the court. We end games without even a play call. There’s no structure to what we are doing. Take out the major talent advantages and this is what you get.

Now beyond that, CJ is completely submarining our defense. A defense is only as good as its worst defender. I am not one that hates on CJ and in fact think he carried us for much of last year. But his defense has regressed from what was questionable to start with.

No backup NBA PG or Center. That’s a quick way to lose in the NBA.

And of course no go to guy available to get us a bucket and provide gravity. Just tends to muck things up.

People threw a hissy fit last year when I said the Pelicans were a bottom 5 team without Zion, but it was 100% correct. They have been awful without him. When he went down 2 years ago, they went from best record in the west to 1-11 despite playing the easiest schedule in the NBA. The coach is terrible. The team is full of one way role players who look good when the opposition is completely focused on Zion but collapse when he is off the court. For all of his faults, Zion is literally the difference between a 50 win team and a 20 win team. Anyone who thinks Zion made this franchise the laughing stock of the NBA deserves the next 10 years without Zion where the Wizards are going to look like the Celtics compared to this franchise.

Memphis no screen offense

If you want to be depressed, watch how Memphis plays in a very unique system. Watch the cuts of the Warriors and other teams and what they are trying to do. And then ask yourself, what is the Pels system? What are we trying to accomplish?

Every cut in the video is close to the basket attempts or open threes. High percentage shots by guys who probably aren’t the shooters we have on our roster.

We have so little movement off ball. Our entire offense is predicated on iso ball. It’s frustrating as hell watching other teams move the ball and cut.

I’d bet we lead the league in zero pass shot possessions this season, outside of maybe some obvious teams like the Clippers and Harden.

The only reason our offense worked last year is b/c Zion and BI were healthy most of the year, and they are exceptional one on one players. But even then, that’s a flawed offensive system b/c those guys are working their arse off to score.

Lol so you blaming a player who doesn’t play for this team being as bad as it is? When no matter who they play they lose the game in the 3rd or 4th quarter. Stop it. It’s definitely not on Zion

Griffin's total mismanagement of personnel has led to the collapse, along with Willie's desire to play small ball in the NBA. The hires outside of players and coaches is a mess, including the training staff. Players remain disabled and off the court an inordinate amount of time, in my opinion. As stated before we have no bench because Griffin traded away and let go to FA last season's entire bench. Last year's team is totally gone on to play elsewhere. Zion and BI seem to desire to leave and play elsewhere. The 5 [layers on the floor are all small forward type players... they are NBA caliber but lack physicality. Missi is doing a wonderful job, but he's a forward type player, not the big physical center the Pels need. Just my opinion as to why the Pels are sitting in the cellar of the Western conference and one of the worse teams in the NBA.

The Magic hired an up and coming assistant that the league was super excited about and the Pelicans went on the cheap and hired Willie Green

Willie G was also an up and coming assistant when the Pels hired him. He had a lot of luster in 2021.

I doubt svg was cheap. They had to pay his buyout.

I don't think it was about money.
