We are undefeated. Can't get better than that. Let's chill on the trade talk and enjoy the ride. I wouldn't mess with team chemistry right now.

We aren't letting Peja expire without getting anything, sorry.

Peja/MT5 for Iggy/Speights

Active Depth Chart:
PG- CP3/Bayless
SG- Iggy/Belli/Green
SF- Ariza/QPon
PF- West/Smith/Pops
C- Okafor/Speights

Hopefully Chouest has deep pockets.

Do you truly think someone is going to pay Peja the $15M he is due this season so he can watch 20 games from the bench wearing a suit and then contribute 12pts when healthy? I really want to know who's looking for that kind of help

Every non serious contender(so like 24 teams) in the league would love a peja this season. The hornets are in the catbird seat on this peja deal. They can trade him + Thornton for a legit player or let him expire and get a legit free agent.

Consider this: eddy curry probably has the 2nd highest trade value of any tradeae player right now. Eddy curry's ability to help a team win = zero... Less then zero if you take into account his impact on post game buffets.

I do think we'll make a trade for Peja, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if we let his contract expire. If we trade him, it has to be the right deal and not a trade just for making a trade. With a new CBA on the way, there are a few factors that makes trading his contract tricky:
1. Cap will most likely be less, so it won't be the whole $14 mil that we have free, so...
2. Most of whatever contracts we take back will most likely have to be mostly expiring too since...
3. D. West can opt out and need a new contract, Bellenelli, Green, Smith, Thornton would need new deals if we wanted them back, and..
4. We are going to be offering CP3 a new contract within the next two years

We obviously need help at back up center, and I can see us getting another SF back, but I don't see us taking back more than $4 mil worth of contracts that aren't expiring.

You may be right, and I would want him on my team in a pickup game as well, i just don't have $15M to pay him when he's only going to show up for one game anyway. Why would anybody want to pay that guy $15M when he scores 12 points a game, sits 20 games, and only has a year left? Seriously, think about it. There is no guarantee he'll play for that team the following year.

Seeing that Thornton didn't play at all last night, it's looking like it will be him. It sucks because I was really looking forward to seeing him play this year. I guess he just doesn't fit with Monty's style.

There has to be someone out there we can get for these two.

To clear cap space for free agency. It happens every year.

I'm still now sold on Belly Nelly. If we can package Peja and MT5 and good a quality 2 guard to start ahead of Belly Nelly I would be for this.

He's getting lots of credit for playing good defense against good SGs, including DWade, and he's shooting 41.4% from 3 point land. I'm not saying he can't be upgraded but what aren't you sold on? He's a solid starter.

I hope like hell we don't trade for another 2. I can't think of an available one that is a clear upgrade over Marco.

Chris Broussard says we had inquired about Peja for Iggy but were quickly turned down. He also speculates about the following players if their teams tank: LINK

Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace
Kevin Martin
Rip

Stephen Jackson is a malcontent.

Rip has 3 years and 34 million left as he reaches the end of his usefulness.

Wallace has 3 and $27 million left.

Martin has 3 and $36 million left.

I honestly hope like all hell that we stay as far from those trades as possible. All three are overpaid and if we take that crap on before the new CBA is determined, we'd be foolish.

Yeah, of those possibilities I think Rip is the only gamble that has a chance of paying off but he's just as likely to end up like Peja, one good year then becomes an albatross. I still keep coming back to Peja + Thornton for Dalembert + Thompson/Landry but I know that's not enough for Sac and I don't want to give up a 1st to rent Dalembert.

I didn't think much of Iggy before the World Championships but I have to say I became a fan after that. As long as he is on a team where he isn't asked to do too much or carry the load he can really help. Seems like he's had a rough start to this season.

Some sort of trade that involved dwest + peja for Landry + whatever would be freaking awesome.

No, it would not. D West for Landry is a downgrade.
