Zion and the Pels are going to frick the league up this year. I know I know. I say it every year, but this year I'm super serious in saying they do

Given the center situation, I have no idea how good we're going to be this season. But we're loaded at the 1-4, and if we stay healthy, we're going to be competitive and entertaining to watch. I just don't trust Willie to be clever enough to maximize the (admittedly flawed) roster that he's being given.

People are right that we do this every offseason, but I don't think he's ever looked THAT skinny.

Respect. Has to stay in shape based on the games nature. If he can own the top of the key, defensively, the lineup will play fast.

the thing that Zion had to accept was it wasn't just about being "in shape" or conditioned. It was that he couldn't carry that much mass (muscle or otherwise) through a full season and the playoffs. To last in pro basketball he just has to be lighter...

Definitely 6'6 max, maybe 6'5 w/o shoes. And he looks about 265 in weight. He actually might look thinner than Duke Zion right now.

Well we can kill all that nonsense with him playing Center for considerable stretches. Zion is an undersized 4.., but we wanna make him the 5 and do him like they used to do Jrue.

Dumb arse coaching had Jrue guarding the Lebron's, Giannis, and Durant's of the game and with a straight face act like he that much of a defensive ace to give up such a height and weight disparity and think that stupid arse shite would work. Poor Jrue would just get a jumper over him, or mauled into the paint and if he did manage to play solid D on a play and they would miss the shot, all for naught bc they would just snatch the offensive board literally over his back and get a putback and 1.. Maddening....

I REPEAT, Zion is not a 5 and shouldn't see minutes there for long stretches. The Southwest Division has trees for Centers (Wemby 7'4, Chet 7'1, Derek Lively 7'1, Zack Edey 7'4) and ain't talked about the rest of the League. There has been/is a resurgence of having huge Centers the past 2-3 years, so much so, I think that small ball lineup novelty is nearing it's end. He'll, we even drafted our future at Center in Missi and he is the runt of the division at 6'11.

That's why WE HAVE to trade for a legit Center b4 the season starts. It is imperative. Do what u gotta do to trade Ingram to either: Utah and get Kessler and whatever else (Collins off the bench wouldn't be a bad option behind Zion- 2nd team would be very formidable) OR a sleeper trade: Ingram to Portland for Jerami Grant and Robert Williams III. IF Robert can shake back to his form 3/4 years ago, we definitely have a chance at a title.

In any event, Z looks like he might damn near be too small and lost some of that girth that made dudes get out the way or get moved on the blocks trying to operate around Z. He should be faster and jumping like JA now at the rim. This team one good trade away from having a serious chance, maybe since basketball been back in the Crescent to be in a NBA finals.

If Zion becomes an above average defender and stays healthy, it doesn't really matter what we do with Ingram because we will wreck people

It was always nonsense. When we played small last season, it was usually Herb or BI at center. Trey will probably be better able to help this season. Zion is just too short to effectively guard opposing centers.

Yep. Our path to contention has always involved Zion becoming the MVP candidate we know that he can be. If Zion becomes a top-5 player, then we are contenders. If he's only a top-20 player, then we aren't.

The roster construction only matters at the margins.

Like you’re saying, being successful with Zion at center doesn’t mean he’s locking down the opposing center

It means he is in shape enough to help defensive rebound and we run run run in transition

Trey and Herb are both extremely efficient in transition. Obviously we know what Z can do in transition. We should be playing at warp speed this year with our current center rotation.

We've had a "look at how skinny Zion is" thread every offseason, but this is the first time where he didn't only look skinny because of the lighting in a certain picture made it seem that way.

The neck is the biggest tell that he has actually dropped weight for once.

If he’s 281 now does that mean the spectrum of fit Zion starts at 295?
