We are 5-10 in a weak division. We have won 3 of last 4 games (all who aren’t very good). A new QB who has played fairly decent.

Shough isn’t our savior yet. We have O line and D line issues.

Let’s wait until we play a full year with Shough at the helm and see how our draft goes before we think we on our way to the Super Bowl.

But I am very proud of the team for not giving up and meshing well with Shough. Still a long road to compete.

I don't understand some of y'all. The Saints have had one piece of bad news after another and we all knew this was going to be a painful rebuilding season. We finally have some glimmers of positivity and nerds like you come on the board to remind fans (who have no impact on the on-field product whatsoever) to not get excited. There's been enough legitimate negativity without having to make the few positives we are seeing negative too.

Exactly! Any fans of any team that has not had a possible franchise qb would be creaming themselves. I am excited that Shough is playing like he is. Does this mean he is the next Brees? No, but the outlook is looking a whole lot better than two months ago.

What defenses has he tore up since he played?

Shough and Moore have given the Saints their first legitimate sign of hope to be competitive that they've had in half a decade and you're here to crap on it. No one is saying we're Lombardi bound next season but at least we have some young pieces to continue to build around.

This is understating things. He’s playing VERY well with one of the worst supporting casts at nearly every position group on offense. I don’t think anyone is ready to crown him yet, but the fact both he AND Moore have gotten better as the season has gone along is a major sign of encouragement. There’s a path to the playoffs (not Super Bowl) next year.

Nothing wrong with being hesitant. Next year is the true test. Stroud looked great his first year. RG3 as well. Plenty of other examples. But if he plays this well next year WITH a better supporting cast, then I think the fans are allowed to believe Shough can be a top 10 guy and lead them to the playoffs consistently.

Weak division as in three more wins and they would be in first place. They need to change the qualifying criteria for playoffs. No team from this division belongs in the playoffs. Yet, the division “champ” is in taking a spot from a.better team.

The problem with this is, what do you use to determine "better team". As it stands, the Carolina would be tied for 7th place with Detroit at 8-7 and have a better conference record (6-4 vs 5-5). Based on the criteria, if you were to eliminate auto qualifiers for division winners, they would still be a playoff team.

I agree. A 7/8 win team should never be in over a 10 win team. It's the dumbest shite ever.

Or make it as to where division champ guarantee a spot, but record = home field advantage

No. A division champ should never be guaranteed a spot. In 2010, Seattle, a 7-9 team, made the playoffs over the giants and Bucs. 2 10 win teams. That should not happen ever. They beat us in the playoffs with Beastmode.

Record. If 2 teams are tied up then yes, go with the better team. If a division has 4 10+ win teams they should all be in the playoffs over a, lesser division winner. You can't make sense of it at all.

We may win 4 home games, no more than two road games next year. We have a legitimate schedule next year

he doesn't have to tear up a defense, just manage the game and score points - it is a reason it is considered a team sport - early on in the year, the defense kept us in games and the Offense failed them.

now the offense is playing, somewhat complimentary ball with the Defense.

no real, objective fan of the team thinks were super bowl bound next year - win the division sure, it should be doable - but Super Bowl is a pipe dream at best.

How’s this for overreacting? Shough isn’t the second coming of Drew Brees, and a 6 isn’t a 9 upside down … a 9 is a 6 upside down. Drew was here to prepare the way for Shough, who will win multiple Super Bowl titles during his time as a Saint.

Houston radio thinks we are a good off-season from being really good. They are optimistic about us next season.

I understand that means nothing.
