$20M bonus with no voids put his cap hits at:
2026: $5M bonus allocation + $1.3M base = $6.3M cap hit
2027: $5M bonus allocation + $8.7M base = $13.7M cap hit
2028: $5M bonus allocation + $15M base = $20M cap hit
2029: $5M bonus allocation + $1M roster bonus + $15M base = $21M cap hit
2030: $0
$20M in signing bonus (spread over 4 years)
$40M in salary, $0M guaranteed
$1M roster bonus
$61M deal. Is actually $15.25M per year, without voids. 2029 can be an out year, since no guarantees, which would make it a 3 year $45M deal
Oops, did not see Nick's tweet in your 2nd post, wouldn't load

There are no voids because it's a 4 year deal that could have only been stretched 1 more year for the signing bonus. Underhill is getting a little silly there. xD
2 things here: As I said they obviously are NOT going away from the minimum salary for the first year thing they always do, and as long as he plays well they will extend him or add a void year at the end when they are about to dump him and want to stretch it.

David Edwards was a high school QB.
got recruited as a TE by Wisconsin.

Has not stopped Mickey from getting cute and adding that extra year to turn $20M from a $5M a year hit to a $4M a year hit.

Could see a restructure in 2028 if the cap situation warrants it.
Why doesn't this team do more extensions going into the last year of a player's contract? Especially when void years are involved.

Are you saying he can be our Taysom 2.0???

quote:My point is we will add 2 or 3 dummy years if we restructure his base next year or the year after. They currently want that "5th year" clean so that only the new restructures hit it. They have done this several times in the past.

quote:We sometimes do and sometimes don't. Depends on if we feel the player is asking for too much or not. Like this year we let both Cam and Demario walk for asking for too much, but we have extended guys like Ruiz, Sheppard, etc who are relatively cheap compared to what other guys might make.

I wouldn't go THAT far but let's just say future Saints legend David Edwards.
