So each team ideally wants at least 2 pressure guys, and Jordan falls into the top 64 in most categories there (65th for the one he missed). Also, most of those numbers for the totals lacks context since he played far fewer snaps. Where does his (and Young's) pressure rate fall amongst all pass rushers? I have a feeling Jordan is in good company there, while Young is amongst the elite.
Also, and I know this is because of the focus of the thread being on sacks, Cam is a run first guy who can also pressure. If we are trying to evaluate if he should be brought back on sacks/pressures alone (as some are trying to argue), you are missing a HUGE part of the picture.

I would assume Cam was rated higher than Chase vs the run or near the top on our dline?

Tbh I didn't watch Young close enough on runs to see how he did most of the time, but I know our run defense seemed to improve down the stretch (though with a few big runs that messed up the average in some games), and that may have been partly because Young was improving? I know in the Atl game he looked pretty great against the run (as did our whole team). But yeah Cam is usually on the better end against the run, while I suspect for the year Young may have been middling.

sacks, hits and hurries relative to how many times they rush the passer
Chase Young 11th in the NFL
Cam 58th
Chase Young 11th in the NFL
Cam 58th

Cam was 24th vs the run
Young was 52
Young was 52

Maybe re-sign cam. trade granderson. and be open to an early edge pick.

Granderson graded out slightly above the mean in the run and pass. Better pressure rate stats than Cam. 4th most solo tackles amongst edges. Given his age and contract, I think he is a hold. Maybe Staley bangs the table for Bain or Bailey. Keep Granderson in the rotation. Do whatever with Cam. I’d prefer to look at a 4-5 year plan at the position rather than a year to year. Young, Granderson, and a young stud there solidifies the next few years

Trading Granderson makes zero sense

A veteran with decent production on 2 yrs remaining decent contract that helps clear a bit of cap. We're choosing to keep Cam and allow a youth guy to come in and have available playing time. While getting some compensation for trading granderson. Not sure why you think makes "zero sense".

Granderson is younger, cheaper and solid against the run. I’d rather let Cam walk and draft a new edge if he is going to be too expensive. I think Gyno is right and there is a bit of a fluke to his sack stats.

That's totally fine. In my scenario, it was said that cam was kept. Granderson only has 2 yrs left on deal. If cam is replacing granderson during those 2 years and outproduced him this year, then not much is lost and we're trading a good veteran with juice left in the tank. I like Granderson a lot too, but that also speaks to what we might be able to fetch in return trade value.

Pretty much like I thought, Young is near the elite and Cam is still in starter territory (2 pass rush starters for 32 teams, so 64 total).

quote:Again here both amongst the starters' level. Cam's a bit lower than I thought but still in the best run defender on the team range. Definitely something to be taken into account when deciding his future.
Cam was 24th vs the run
Young was 52

quote:You want at least 3 guys that can rush, and even if we resign Cam, it would still be good to hold on to Granderson since that is a 1 or 2 year play with Cam. Then you can take swings at edge guys this year and next and hope one hits for the future. No need to create holes when we are in a great spot with the cap.

you wanna compare snap and sack and cost production of a jonah williams vs what we got from carl granderson?

Why are we obsessed with only sacks judging these guys?
Also, he has 42% of the snaps Granderson got, half the sacks, a little more than half the qb hits, less than half the tackles for loss, only a third of the total tackles, and Granderson has a swatted pass and int.
Yes he costs a heck of a lot more on the cap, but cutting him only saves $7.3 mil post June 1st. So that's the amount of money we have to try to replace a guy that is a true all around DE/OLB.
Cam also did more rushing the passer with fewer snaps, but people just want to right him off as well, and act like stopping the run doesn't matter. Granderson has been very good against the run (perhaps our best run defender on the line) and can also provide some pass rush.
Unless we are getting a 1st rounder for him, it make zero sense to trade a guy like that, nor does it makes sense to let Cam walk unless he is asking for crazy money, since keeping both will save us cap this year and not give us 2 more holes we need to fill when we have so many already. Let's not make holes by getting rid of the good ones.

Cam Jordan 59.5 pass rush grade per PFF (84th out of 115 edge guys)
And this is exactly what my eyes told me this year. A good bit of his sacks were just opportunistic sacks. It wasn’t him beating his man to get them like Chase.

i've explained a simple scenario. if people can't follow my scenario and make appropriate comments then i'm done wasting my energy.
i've laid out a scenario of trading granderson for VALUE because he is valuable but we are resigning cam AND ADDING DRAFT talent to the position and you are talking about cutting him and other shite like i don't know.

Is there a monster approaching Aaron Donald quality at DT this year? Cause with the platoon of Grandy, Chase and Cam it seems to me such a player at DT would help what we have in place at DE. Cam will be back.
Posted on 1/7/26 at 3:56 pm to goatmilker
Donald was a super rare player that I haven't seen in the league for a while besides him, but there are guys on the market that are a tier under him I think. Like maybe Vita Vea level.
