I wish all the mid 30s+ guys well and thank them all for their service. I don’t pay them more than year to year.

Great guys but serious franchises don’t give out lifetime achievement contracts. I’d rather end it a year or so early than a year or so late.

This rebuild isn’t going to be linear, we may take 2 steps forward then one back.

Hell look at what happened in 07,08 after a significantly more successful rebuilding 06 season compared to the one we just had.

15-17 was my thought process of what cam could be wanting.

17 for chase with his end of the year production is a huge bargain in and of itself.

I find it hard to see us paying Granderson and Cam when needing to fill holes everywhere else and still need to find ways to add youth to edge position.

I looked at the notes on his contract
quote:

Sacks Incentives (cumulative)
5: $300,000
6: $300,000
7: $400,000
8: $400,000
9: $600,000
Playing Time Incentives (cumulative)
50%: $350,000
55%: $550,000
60%: $550,000
65%: $550,000

ended up playing for $9.8mm rather than the base $6.8 or whatever it was.

he could've meant half off the actual number, meaning he wants $20mm which would suck

Grandsons deal has been a good deal the last few years. He’s a very productive passrusher and he isn’t a full time guy. This league is about getting after the qb and you’re talking about getting rid of or complaining about having depth there? You get rid of Granderson you have a 38 year old guy whose contract is up, a stud in Chase, Granderson who is very solid and nobody else. They need to add another piece in here. Extending Granderson is a decent idea.

D.Davis at the end of his career is better than lots of other LB's available

Since Granderson’s extension

Last three seasons

Granderson has 3.5 more sacks
9 more TFL
13 more QB hits
45 more solo tackles

Overpaying Cam off this past season is a mistake

Sure need him for depth whatever we do in the draft. And if Davis and Cam want to chase a ring somewhere then God Speed to them.

Love Cam and Davis but these are guys you don’t overpay. They deserve their money and i wish we were in a better position but, in the end are we true Super Bowl contenders? Probably not. We can’t keep investing in old players. If they don’t want to play for what we can offer then wish them well.

Granderson is much better against the run than Cam. Cam’s sack output inflated his worth to the fanbase. I’d much rather sign Davis to a new deal than Cam.

umm what are you talking about? Cam had a way higher run defense grade than Carl. There's a reason they drop Carl into coverage more

Yeah, idk where they got that stat but Cam has always been incredible against the run. He almost shuts down the run on his side completely.

I think both were similar vs the run maybe I'm wrong but they were not bad as I recall. Can't say the same for the inside guys I don't think. First half of the year the whole line stunk.

To add further context:
Total Snaps:
Carl: 2464
Cam: 1926

That's nearly an entire season worth of snaps for cam difference.

Average of both guys’ PFF run grades over the last three seasons are identical - 69.5

did you look at last season? he said people were overinflating his value just because of the sacks

RUN DEFENSE GRADE. 82.1. AVG. 4th/115 EDs

Carl said a 64.4 for 2025 I think

eta - 2024 he was played out of position and 2023 was the injury year

So we are ok paying $17 mil or whatever it is to a 37 year old who is only going to play half your defensive snaps?

i said few posts ago that the IDEAL thing would be trading Granderson for some decent value, he's a good player on a good contract, extending Cam for say 15ish which allows him to playout his career, we squeeze whatever is left and we still add to position with some youth in draft. I find it hard to pay carl, chase, and cam all together again.

I think this is probably fair. Ideally, do the deal for $12mm and make him hit incentives to get the extra 3 just like last season. And allows us to free up cap space
