Dream draft (anything with trading down!)

Did a mock on NFLDraftbuzz.com and accepted a few trade offers along the way. Picked up DT Jordan Davis from Philly in a trade and ended up with 13 picks.
TE Tyler Warren
EDGE Jalon Walker
S Xavier Watts
RB Kaleb Johnson
LB Demetrius Knight Jr.
S Andrew Mukuba
RB TreVeyon Henderson
TE Terrance Ferguson
C Jared Wilson
RB Cam Skattebo
LB Lander Barton
OG Clay Wenb
OG Logan Parr
Would’ve liked an OL or two sooner but the values just didn’t seem to fit the draft slots. Lots of value at LB and RB for STs alone, and may just hit on a regular contributor/Starter or two.
Think we have the best TE since Jimmy Graham—slightly less “weapon”, but less predictable since he’s a strength in-line rather than liability.
Think this draft all but “fixes” the concerns at Safety moving forward, and the 3 RBs taken give us what we need now and moving forward at RB (and honestly I look at Skattebo as a “FOOTBALL PLAYER”… I don’t want to say “like Taysom” because he’s not nearly the athlete Taysom is, but I think he’s gonna be a valuable asset in the NFL).
The C and G picks give us a few shots at finding a long term starter or two, definitely ST contributors and backup potential.
It’s the draft after all, and we know it’s largely a crapshoot.
We know our cap situation sucks and our roster is old. I’d love to see multiple trades back and bring in a ton of draft-worthy youth, but I’m pretty sure that’s a pipe dream. Oh well.

Saints don't need 3 RBs. We need LBs because our LBs can't cover sideline to sideline.

We currently have one that is remotely worth a shite and he’s over 30. We 110% need some fresh runners.
ETA: I wouldn’t draft 3. I thought you meant we didn’t need 3 on the roster.

no way you end up with Warren and Walker.

RBs can be found at small schools. Payton proved that. We pick them up after draft.

RB in the 1st round are a wasted pick nowadays

You must have missed that 1st round rb the eagles had.

I said nowadays. He's been in the league 7 years.

I’d argue that Drew Brees was the number one reason we were able to plug and play lower tier talent.

They won because of dominate lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ballThose 2 units are tops in the league. Philadelphia rushed 4 guys all night, and KC had no answer, even with extra pass protection. I have no problem with the Saints drafting a DL/OL in the 1st round.

They didn't pick him.
They got him when the team that drafted him in the 1st discarded him

I mean will we use the next one we draft properly? Or let him go to another team to be an all pro…

Yeah, trading back in the draft simulator is fun:

NFLDraftBuzz.com mock draft with scouting summaries. Think I addressed a number of holes; I haven't been entirely sold on Jeanty in the 1st round but Kamara only has 2 non-void years left on his contract and he'll be 30 before this season starts.

We are so talent deficient. This isn’t a superstar draft, but this draft has a lot of solid players you can build a base on. We could really go in so many directions. This isn’t my favorite, but it addresses a lot of issues.

I traded down and picked up a couple extra picks for this year and next. I went with Campbell (he won't be here in real life) for pick 14 because my top 3 picks went before. I think Campbell will end up being a Guard in the NFL. He was best Lineman on the board. My focus then went to Defensive Line help, and Safety to hopefully help fill in the gap from losing an aging Honey Badger that should, in my opinion, be cut to save cap space even if after June 1st. I like my next couple picks. I wanted a LB sooner, but by the time my picks came, the value for LB wasn't there. I am hoping we can work some magic and bring in a veteran LB to help, though Cap space might be hard.

Mickey Loomis has never ever traded down in a draft. That’s why the Saints are in the position they’re in now. This year would be a first.

Can't go wrong with drafting SEC defensive players.
