It's all subjective. Rodgers is probably a slightly better QB. But, if the Packers don't produce this year, while the Saints kick absolute arse in the absence of a head coach, I think there's a fantastic chance of Brees winning the MVP.

or will he be cheated out of it again
This is some pretty huge homerism if you think he was cheated out of it. Yes he did have an incredible year but Rodgers was clearly the better QB last year. Not by a huge margin but he was.

Honestly, you're a solid poster dude. I lurk on this board way more than I post.

You love the Saints and I really enjoy your passion.

We disagreed on a topic a while ago, but I understood and respected your position.

for life!

to another Superbowl season!

Hey, all that back at you, buddy.

You should post more here.
We try uniquely hard to entertain other's POV's.

And I find your OT threads perversely amusing.

What's some more options? Cuz he got ripped last year....

Last year has no meaning to this year. Theres that 3rd option, Brees not winning and ya know....not being the most deserving of it

Oh and Rodgers was the correct choice last season.

You're right - this is a really good board and people's opinions are generally discussed in a rational, objective manner.

The Tiger Rant, on the other hand and for example, can make one want to cut their own wrist with all of the negativity.

that is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read. If we are really "being honest here"

He might have an edge this year if voters consider the lack of SP on the sideline. If the Saints have a good year they'll have to recognize Drew's value to the team not only as a quarterback but as a leader.

This should not be underestimated. That same media that isn't giving Brees or the Saints a chance this season will be the same media that will have to change their tune if the Saints & Brees have the type of season they are capable of having. Some in the media have knocked Brees for being a so called "system QB" & for playing under the best play caller in the game. If Brees continues to put big numsbers with the team winning as well in Payton's absence, then the media will have no choice but to recognize & have Brees as one of the front runners for MVP.

The media knows fans love a roller coaster ride. If the team without a head coach looks like a contender they will start praising Brees so much we'll probably get sick of it. Brees definitely gets the MVP nod if the Saints finish a 1 or 2 seed.

All this right here.

And agreed, Brees didn't get robbed last year. Brees would have been very deserving along with either Rodgers or Brady IMO. The frustrating thing was that the media made it seem like it wasn't' even a competition and Rodgers was a shoe in, similar to the way they did with Bama completely ignoring OSU. That's what was so frustrating IMO.

And no, Brees wasn't robbed in 09 either. He and Peyton were both extremely deserving. Again, though, the frustrating part was the lack of any sort of fair coverage by the media. It was Peyton's the second we dropped to 13-1.

just my opinion man

with the homerism aside, I just don't think that Aaron is better than Drew. I don't think they're very far apart at all, but I think Drew has the edge.

If he does enough to earn it, Brees needs to be the one to win it. He's been the best QB in the league for a few years now. Yes Brady, Manning, and Rodgers are great but Brees seems to have just a little something that none of them do. It was he who broke all these records, not the others. Don't give me the "he has happens" excuse either...the others have/had plenty to work with and all of our stars are homegrown, most late round picks that no one could have expected to develop into what they did.

Brees should have won at least 2-3 by now, so it's time he gets one if he earns it. The Saints/Packers game will go a long way in deciding it yet again

Both times Brees has had a monster MVP caliber season, he has been "robbed" in a sense because another guy did the same and ended up with the hardware. Both deserving guys, just bad luck for Brees that his great seasons came in years where another high profile QB had a a great year.

2009
Brees: 70.6% 4,388 yards 34TD 11INT, 2 rush TD
Manning: 68.8% 4,500 yards 33TD 16INT

2011
Brees: 71.2% 5,476 46TD 14INT, 1 rush TD
Rodgers: 68.3% 4,643 45TD 6INT, 3 rush TD

In 2009, I think Brees numbers overall were a bit better than Manning and Brees should have won that year. In 2011, it was really tight between Brees and Rodgers and I can't really take fault with Rodgers winning.

Came on here to post what HooDoo, emcee, and ATL have already said.

I'll add Brees is the clear-cut front-runner. The Saints would have to finish 3rd or worse in the NFC for him to get beaten out by someone else. It's his award to lose.

If Brees takes the Saints to the playoffs, he wins his first MVP. The media thinks the team will do nothing and the story of the off-season is this team and if they can still succeed. He has been on the edge of winning it multiple times, this is his best chance to win it.

Rodgers beat Brees head to head and didn't really have any off games like Drew did against Tampa and St. Louis last year. When you go 15-1 and 45 tds to 6 picks you're gonna get it every single time. Brees 110% should have won it in 09.

Brees is capable of winning MVP every season, just a matter of how others do as it seems there's always a guy who's slightly better besides in '09 think he should have won that one

It's called MOST VALUABLE PLAYER! Drew Brees is more valuable therefore he was cheated out of it.

I know it doesn't meet the strict definition of "most valuable player," but Brees breaking Unitas' record should affect the voters' decisions at least a little.
