The Patriots do this every year. They don't fall in love with players and overpay them. They're willing to let guys walk if they ask for more.

Like many have said, it's business.

resigns player that states one of his biggest reasons for staying is because of the locker room

lets the player who is arguably one of the biggest contributors to that locker room chemistry walk

this is Kamara's backfield now.

Surprised it took until page two for someone to say this. Ingram was a nice player, but Kamara is a great player and should be getting the vast majority of the touches. Murray can be a nice change of pace to compliment him now.

Ingram to Murray is a downgrade, but the upside is more Kamara and more cap space.

Murray is a good 1 cut runner who can break tackles and is good in the redzone.

Yeah I think his redzone ability is one of the biggest things. Pretty durable back too.

And he is making less than what Ingram received 4 years ago in a year where everyone seems to be getting paid.

Very bizarre move.

It's not like we're replacing Ingram with a younger version.
They're the exact same age.

this is the opposite of Loomising. Loomis would re-sign him in a heartbeat and and keep charging the credit card that is already over its limit.

this is an Ireland move. Smart, calculated.

Ingram is going to sign in a place like Baltimore for much more money than this. Good for him

With similar production, but Murray is going to be making less money.

Ingram waiting on the Bell shoe to drop. Either way, Saints probably know Ingram has greener pastures out there between Raiders, Jets, Ravens, Bears, Colts etc.

I'll have to take your word for that.

Is Murray a good receiver out of the backfield?
Is he an excellent pass blocker?

According to Vikings fans, Murray is a great lockerroom guy, its one of the first things they mention about him.

I love the signing..he's a good quality rb. Doesn't fumble as often as Ingram and If we are all being honest with ourselves Ingram did not look as good last year as he has in the past

More
Saints offer for Ingram came in at about $4million per season, source says.

I hope Ingram makes at least 5-6 mill a year elsewhere.

Average at best I think.

From what I have read so far he is a very good pass blocker.

I am not an expert though, I'm just reading things that other fans are saying.
