I appreciate what Payton brought to New Orleans including a Championship. I don't have to respect that he "retired" only to get out from his team after his QB retired. He quit on them, so I enjoy seeing him lose elsewhere.

He had to get a rookie QB to start. Gives most coaches at least two more years of job security. If Denver goes nowhere next year CSP will.

You have that in the bushes golf course stalking vibe.

He will be fired in Denver soon enough.

Don’t believe any other NFL team will ever offer him a head coaching position.

Before he left I was getting frustrated that he kept up changing personnel every play. It just was working anymore and just wasted a bunch of time.

Honestly I don't know how much Sean Payton was responsible for his own success or if this was a Brady and Belichick type situation. Brady was obviously the reason for his success. I mean Brady went to what use to be a bottom feeder in the NFC south and won a Superbowl.

I don't know how to gage if Paytons success because he had a washed up Russel Wilson and now a rookie QB. Those two options isn't gonna make the scheme work.

In my humble opinion

Without Drew Brees he wins nothing of importance

That’s why he quit

He won’t win anything of significance in Denver with that rookie QB

P.S.

He’s a terrible evaluator of talent.

There’s a reason Seattle let Russell Wilson leave.

And his #1 pick will be a bust

Was Brees carrying Payton all those years?

Without a doubt. An elite QB takes teams to a different level. Think about the pieces that were around drew at the time too. Half of them would have been mid players on any other team, but drew made them look good and play good.

Dude won a super bowl here...he got burned out and wanted a new start. No need to be an a-hole.

He wasn’t burned out

He quit because he didn’t have a QB and new he couldn’t win

So he then picks Denver and their awesome quarterback situation.

Payton’s offense is old and stale, and he’s too arrogant to change it

The real answer is his personnel sucks. He has a check-down QB and not much around him. The Saints offensive scheme is hardly complex, but we’re putting up 40+ points per game. Personnel and execution matter more. Maybe Payton is washed, but he has a rookie QB who was wayyyyyy over hyped as a rookie.
