Tampa did it with an aged Tom Brady. It can be done
He threw 3 INTs vs GB and they still won. That team had alot of luck go their way like us in 2009. I believe the NFL helped in some way.

This. Even another Katrina won't help.

believe it? no - but lets be honest, the Rams got the playoff win over us so they could have the shot since LA got the new stadium and the NFL moved offices there. coincidence?

Maybe if we have another Katrina they might throw us a bone again

I do. The NFL guided a few of those 13 wins in 2009. It was "supposed" to be magical.

I totally agree with the Front Office. Our drafts plus free agent areas all need significant upgrades. We need people who have extensive knowledge of running, drafting and player development.

This shite again.
If the NFL was trying to set up a win for the Saints due to Katrina, why didn't they do it in 2006 when the Saints made it to the NFCCG the year after? And you can't say it would be too obvious, then also credit the NFL for setting up the Rams SB their first year in LA.
Also, why would Brady have so many rings? P Manning & Rodgers so few? Surely by now "America's Team" would have gotten 1 ring in the last 30ish years. When claiming parity, I'm sure they would have made sure teams like Det or Clev had at least 1 SB appearance and over 1/3rd of the league still would not be looking for their 1st ring.

Don't disagree about the scouting department, but at the same time I wonder how handcuffed the side that scouts vet FAs are because of the cap situation. Really hard to address all of your needs when 15% of the cap is spent on dead money. To put in perspective, the team's current top cap hit (AK) counts for 7.3% of the cap

In all honesty, I'd say until we get another Drew Brees. Look at how bad we were until he came in. Pieces were added here and there to help him and he made some unknowns look like superstars. I know there will never be another Drew, but realistically, I can't see anything good happening until then.
Unfortunately, we will have lost a lot of pieces to the puzzle on both ends of the ball by that point in time. In 5+ years, the defense will be totally different, as well as the offense.
It has to be the QB position that is holding us back. We have a lot of talent around the ball in Kamara, Hill, Olave, Shaheed, Perry......

With the way this team is structured, it's a combo of the o-line & QB holding them back. Both will need to be addressed before any legit shots at a SB run, but even a QB like Brees would struggle with this o-line, and you give a QB like Carr the best o-line in the league and he'll still have his deficiencies.
But looking at the makeup of the "top 10" QBs in the league today, and if they actually take a shot at investing a top pick in a QB; they could find someone to lead them.
Top 10 QBs per PFF
Mahomes - 10th overall
Lamar - 32nd overall
Burrow - 1st overall
Allen - 7th overall
Herbert - 6th overall
Prescott - 135th overall (4th round)
Stafford - 1st overall
Rodgers - 24th overall
Hurts - 53rd overall (2nd round)
Stroud - 1st overall
Even if you disagree with the rankings, it does sort of paint a picture. The average draft spot is 27th overall, or 14th if you consider Dak & Purdy (not listed) as a pure luck anomaly. IMO, the key is your college scouts have to do a better job, and you have to take chances knowing you may burn a few 1st rounders on busts. Problem is, that also tends to cost people their jobs.

How much longer is Goodell serving as commissioner?

We need an elite QB, coach, and top 15 defense to even be in contention.
