Maybe he was just injured last year(or Allen just doesn't like him), but yea...last year was that bad.
Best case scenario is that Nolan can get something out of him.

I'm assuming Te'O is for the minimum so I don't think this effects anything
Posted on 3/20/17 at 12:38 pm to Fun Bunch
Knowing us, we will trade him to the Pats for a 7th and he becomes a perennial pro bowler.

No way it's a minimum contract

We need LB competition at training camp and special teams. I don't think they have gave up on Anthony yet, but I believe this is make or break year for him.
Posted on 3/20/17 at 12:40 pm to LSU1215
Wasn't Payton dogging Anthony over his shitty special teams play? As I remember, he called him out for being a LB who only had like 1 special teams tackle.

I'm thinking it isn't far off and easily waivable.
He hasn't been anything special, is coming off of a major injury, and as far as I know he hasn't gotten any attention from any other team.
It will be extremely cheap and cuttable...one would think.

Nolan knows him from when he was in SD. So this has his handwriting all over it.
He's good depth. He's a younger version of Laurinitis. Good leader, can line people up and can play the run decent. Not so sure he's good but as depth he can't hurt.
Probably a cheap one year deal. He was hurt last year.

likely but i'm just saying, its a little more than "minimum"... he's proven to be more valuable than that when healthy and he's 26.

I'm liking the shake up. It has been too much of the same flavor of failure on D too long. Fresh coaches, fresh players... maybe some gel time required but maybe fresh performance too. Remembering Payton's first season of house cleaning. You wouldn't have guessed it from those changes but they went from 28th in Points Allowed to 13th in one season! Keep the faith brethren.

Mauti will be lucky to ever play in the NFL again... he's suffering very bad chron's disease or something like it... he's nowhere close to be physically able to play...

ah, Mike Nolan was his position coach in 2015. Now we understand.
Posted on 3/20/17 at 1:09 pm to chRxis
This would put us theoretically 6 deep at LB:
Ellerbe Stupar
Klein Anthony
Robertson, Te'o

He also had 25, 22, 20, and 6 assisted tackles for a combined 73, 61, 82, and 17 tackles each year.
He also only started 6 games in 2014.
He has 38 games played with 34 starts. He has a combined 233 tackles over that period. So he's averaging about 100 tackles per 16 games.
Not great but not as bad as you made it out to seem.
The BIG thing is injuries. He has never played a full year, playing 13 games at most.
