Ruiz has never played Guard before so that scares me at 24.

I wonder if we’ve met with any of the other RBs

I saw that. If Saints actually draft a RB I hope we trade Kamera for another pick.

Fantasy stats reflect real life production.
If, over the last 10years, data tells you that only 2-3 WRs were super productive based on variables presented, then yes that is a risky pick.
And It’s not that obscure of a metric.
We are talking 4 year players who have doubled their career production in their final season.
Yes, all picks have some inherent risk. But there are varying levels.

Dobbins is really good. But I’d honestly rather us trade up into the 2nd somehow and take Cam Akers if we really want a RB as insurance.

I wouldn't mind a running back in the first. Would probably have our pick of any of them at 24 and would be nice to have another horse in the backfield on a rookie deal with the Kamara deal looming. I truly hope we can keep Kamara (hell I even have a kamara jersey) but ya never know how these contract talks will shake out when the time comes. Swift would be pretty fun in our system. He was used in the passing game A LOT and he can get upfield in hurry. Not saying this is what we SHOULD do but it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

Yes of players that have played one season in the league. None of these guys have so there is way more inherent risk than there normally would be. I don’t think scouts are going to base their decision off whether one guy is a risk based off one statistic. Pittman doesn’t really have any other red flags.
Every guy has red flags

I think we trade up for a RB or WR in the 2nd round
I don’t think that’s where we go in the first. I see OL, LB or corner

It is interesting we could potentially be losing Brees and Kamara next year. I don't think the organization is going to want to fill both of those holes at the same time next off-season so drafting a RB really could make sense.

Regardless of whether or not we lose Kamara, we could use another RB. I don’t think Payton fully trusts Murray for whatever reason

The melt over here if we pick Dobbins.
FYI, we've held virtual meetings with Love as well.

Which would be weird because Murray produced with the limited carries he had.

NFL Draft Insider Tony Pauline, who supposedly linked us to Michael Thomas and Stephone Anthony in the past, says he’s hearing we are heavily leaning WR at 24 still. Unless a QB like Love falls.
Take it with a grain of salt lol.

Dobbins is a good football player, a damn good one. Would be fine if we got him.
Here's the thing, this isn't Dave effing Gettlemen picking for us. This organization has a track record of success and a philosophy. Is it foolproof? No- nothing in this league is. But what it DEFINITELY has done is guide us to a Super Bowl, 2 NFC title games, and put us in position more times than we can imagine. The team understands the position we are in better than anyone- Drew's last year, a stacked roster, last year before we have to pay a bunch of people.
So if the pick is Dobbins at 24, y'all need to trust that at this given position in time, taking into consideration every factor, Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis, Ireland, and company feel that he is the player who most helps our ballclub. When we picked Kamara, so many of you lost your minds because we have Ingram already, with ZERO understanding of how it could help our football team. He only turned into Rookie of the Year. Further, if Sean goes RB at 24, you know he must LOVE the guy because of the slot.
Let's trust the professionals and the second longest tenured coach in the league. We do hundreds of draft visits. A visit with Dobbins means little

Explain why.
Outside of Swift goes first in the mock draft you look at.

it does make sense, and yes if I recall correctly he called Michael Thomas to us.
It could just be an educated guess, given that we need a WR, this draft has amazing WRs, and that the Saints have had virtual meetings with Love.
It'll be interesting to see if let's say the top 4-5 WRs are off the board and both Queen and Murray are there. WR is very very deep in this draft and to me, LB is not at all.
Posted on 4/17/20 at 1:48 pm to BenDover78
If both Dobbins and Swift are there, 1-2 WRs, and at least one of Murray and Queen if not both, you have to work the phones hoping for a trade down.
