This is who they think Derek Barnett is
This is a BAD tackle. Real bad. If he goes completely untouched, sure, he'll get a sack.
This is the Derek Barnett that I like
If he tried this little budding spin move more often, I'd like him more. He barely ever does it. It's not a nice crisp spin move with leverage but it's something.
This is NFL Derek Barnett
And lastly, that's Derek Barnett when a tackle gets their hands on him.
The funny part is that this is 3 plays in a row in reverse order.
It's very simplified but it shows what I've been trying to say. He's a speed rusher. If he doesn't win with speed he just doesn't win. I'm very disappointed that he doesn't use that spin move more often.
And I can pull up a bunch of tape of him getting tossed around in the run game if y'all want. His lack of physicality is what turns me off on him. I don't want a starting DE that can't anchor.

And Barnett is no where near the caliber that Suggs was in college. Barnett has no where near his strength.

I don't hate him either. I like him. I just think he's overrated. He's another Kikaha when we need another Cam Jordan.

Cam Jordan wasn't even cam Jordan for 2-3 years. He was a stout run defender who had to develop as a pass rusher.

Suggs went #5 overall because he could actually pass rush. He wasn't a one trick pony like Barnett.
Look at the Taco tape above and show me where Barnett EVER does any of that.
