This team has no upper elite talent, no true difference maker on either side that teams have to account for.

Kamara was that at one time but not anymore. He’s still good, and there are other good players but no real difference makers.

Those lists with us not having any top 100 players were correct.

I agree mostly with what you’re getting at but I think there are at least a few players that have a notable amount more upside to find, and one maybe two that have elite upside.

Banks has elite upside. Fuaga is likely more going to end up “very good” but elite isn’t totally impossible.

Kendre Miller also showed a ton of upside and I think he could be very good

Defensively we probably have no one with elite upside but there are a few young players with potential “good to pretty good” long term upside:
Bresee
Taylor
Reid (he’s already there but is a good player)
McKinstrey (probably a long shot)
Young (tbd but I have high hopes for him succeeding in this scheme)

The lack of playmakers has been apparent for 3 years

There's no way I would pay Olave the money he will want

Yeah. I’ve been on that same train. Even injuries aside, Olave feels like a good to great WR2 more so than a #1 option. I’m dreading us extending him.

I know this is like the most unlikely scenario ever, but my dream is that Shough flashes enough for us to pass on a QB next year and take the #1 WR in the class. Or, alternatively, Shough sucks, we take a QB but still suck next year and can grab Jeremiah Smith in 27.

We just absolutely cannot pay Olave #1 WR money

He’s very good when healthy, but the health is a risk and even his top end production isn’t commiserate with elite pay.

I’d love to be able to draft a WR high as well, but I’ll admit it feels easier to find a gem in the later rounds as opposed to QB

I agree. But no team game plans for elite offensive tackles. Maybe they blitz more to get pressure. But they not outright having to account for them like a Micah parsons, Jalen Carter, cee dee lamb.

Olave getting WR1 money automatically becomes one of the worst contracts in the NFL, both for his play and concussion history.

Especially when you can deal a 3rd or 4th and get a guy like Debo or Pickens most years.

IMO, regardless of record they need to try to move Olave at the trade deadline and get out of that 5th year option they exercised.

And this isn't even, have to get something for him while you can thought. Just can't pay him, close to $16M for 1 year when you are obviously trying to rebuild this roster and as everyone has said he's not worth what he'll demand after the 2026 season
