Disagree very strongly. Word in Saints building is the consensus of employees feel like he's pretty checked out and looking to leave. I trust who disclosed this information very much.

There's no smoke in that article, he's just explaining how it would/could happen if it did.

There is a few things about this rumor that gives me pause...

1) Vegas believes it, or at least believes Payton will be gone from NO

2) Payton is a Parcells guy. Parcells had a famously known philosophy that you have to leave a job if it gets stale. Not saying Payton will be exactly like that, but it's hard not to imagine Parcells putting it in his ear that it's time to go.

3) Mike Tannenbaum is running the show in Miami, and he is also a Parcells guy. Could see Parcells pushing this from his end too: "You need to fix Tannehill... Payton is your guy"

Now, all that said, I think Payton still sticks around. But these things are at least enough to give it a little credence IMO.

I have a good friend in Miami and he is certain its a done deal, may be best for all involved but who comes to clean up the disaster left behind?

Maybe Dikka

Well, that's the rub, isn't it? There's no sure thing out there, and if you guess wrong, you're irrelevant for 5 years ... I don't know how you calculate the success rate of coaches hired around the NFL since Payton came to town but I would bet it's very low.

its possible. Saints will be compensated nicely and Miami would likely have to match his $8mil salary. A lot of moving parts, here

I'm ready for it. Yes, he turned the franchise and won the first super bowl, but after the past 4 years, it's just time.

Miami nor Payton have any leverage. I'd love to make that trade from a negotiation standpoint.

You want Payton? Give me your next 6 1st round picks. If not frick you.

Well Payton could technically just sit out a few years.

And give up all that money? No way. I'd play chicken with that game.
