People think we just decided for no reason at all to trade him for a 5th and a 6th pic. From what I read he wanted a extension based on a safety position sloting. He wanted more money simple. But then the team situation got bad for some reason and...
It got bad and it got bad quickly, Who is at fault I don't know but I lean to the coaching staff. The FO just reacted to the staffs request. Maybe the whole story comes out one day

The situation boiled over over the past couple of weeks. Eventually, he refused coaching due to the dispute, and the Saints knew that a trade was inevitable. That came to fruition today as they dealt him to the Eagles. The Eagles plan on using him as a safety, rather than solely as a nickel defender.

I'm sure he's saying same thing about New Orleans and laughing at us who probably won't see another SB in our lifetimes.
Much as I dislike how Payton handled his situation here, it was unquestionable he ran this organization from talent evaluations to personnel decisions, etc. I'm reminded quickly at just how fricking awful Loomis was before Payton got here.
Eagles made out like champs from NO. They got a missing key piece to their defense and robbed them of their high 1st draft pick.

He might have been. But that’s not a reason to trade him for a 6th rd pick.
Buffalo for instance, had safety injuries all season in the secondary. The Baltimore Ravens did too. We could have easily gotten a 3rd rd pick or better for Ceedy, just by waiting for a contender to have an injury and then shipping him off.

We had 0 leverage.
Philly knew that.
We knew that.

I'm not justifying the trade. I'm saying it wasn't bc Michael Thomas wanted it

Ceedy had a chance to be one of the most loved players of the franchise. Instead he became a team cancer and bad mouthed the franchise on his way out the door. Karma never takes a day off

Exactly, which is why we needed to wait until we had leverage and another team didn’t.
That generally happens around the trade deadline with contenders that have injuries.

they pay McCoy who is a good player but unfortunately is always hurt.
McCoy has played 57 of a possible 66 games. What the hell are you talking about??

He wasn't going to practice or play anymore for that staff. Why they didn't stash him and wait awhile for the best deal I've never heard it asked.

Neither of us were there but I’d imagine the situation was pretty toxic if we got rid of him when we did.

The leverage was to let him play out his deal. There was basically zero upside to trading him.

He was done playing for us. There was no playing anything out. Why can't some see that something toxic went down and a line was crossed. Is this board really thinking that only we knew how good he was, game changing, sh!t talking master that was a fan fav and the Coaches just up and said "get rid of him for peanuts yeah thats a good idea"

Disagree, time was on our side. Ask for his real value (probably a 2 or 3) and healthy scratch him all year until price was met and it would’ve been.

He was the 46th highest graded safety per PFF
He might be a top 15 nickel in the league

What a dumb take, Ceedy had a great year, made it to the Super Bowl, and will get a nice deal.
