I'm not a big fan of this.
Carl nicks, dave thomas, zach strief etc. could have used this focus, on top of the fact that he is STRICTLY one dimensional.

Dating back to 2006, Harper ranks second among all NFL safeties with 9.5 sacks and fourth among all NFL safeties with 11 forced fumbles. And that doesn't include the ball he stripped during the Saints' NFC championship game victory over Minnesota en route to Super Bowl XLIV.

he is a liability in coverage
somebody posted something recently that used an advanced defensive metric to show that he is actually very good in coverage as well as against the run.

what does this even mean?

I don't know what they were thinking paying that much for a safety that can't cover.

He's one of the better SS in the league.
Let's play your scenario. We cut him loose. Who are we getting?

Wow, way too much but not much else the Saints can do at this point I guess. Not many SS left on the market.
We were kinda backed into a corner with Harper.

Forgot about that guy. Hell, trade Harper while we can TBH

More than I thought he'd make but it's not like his career begins and ends with that Seattle game, like some of you think. He's been very good for us.

Last year's stat line: 100 tackles, three sacks, one interception and five forced fumbles

Last year was a long season for the Saints. I think one of the biggest issues in the Seattle game that allowed Hasselbeck to destroy us on the deep pass was the lack of pass rush. He had WAY too much time with the ball.

He had way too much time, yes. But Harper had his worst game I've ever seen him have. And that last memory sticks out in a lot of people and they want to get rid of him.
I love the guy

Pass rush was pitiful and Malcolm Jenkins was hurt. It's not like the ideal gameplan for our D is to have Harp downfield the majority of the time.

not the first guy this offseason to get more than he's worth, oh well I'm glad to have him back
