After your cute little rant I thought you were taking TE in the first round.
Umm what? This is taking a TE in the first.

So you’re saying the best player at 27 will be a TE?

Yes, and his tape looks better. There is no guarding a guy that stands 6'6", has a 41 inch vertical, good speed, and great hands. I believe Gesicki is the better player but Goedert is really good too.

Look are gesicki's highlights from this past season. They are more impressive than Goedert's.

I'm with you. There are some positions that don't warrant using a 1st round pick. Obviously P/Ks and FBs are the most glaring examples, but TEs come in not much further after that. They are not every down players and only the best of the best are real difference makers.

So as of right now The Saints have had private meetings with 5 of this years top tight end draft prospects so far. Clearly its a position they deem important. Should also point out that its the only position that they have met with all the top prospects. So I'm just gonna go ahead and trust the people who had one of the greatest drafts ever last year and I'm gonna not give a shite about a few chat board GMs who think they know better than them.
Tight Ends We Have Met With:
Dallas Goedert 2x
Mark Andrews
Mike Gesicki
Hayden Hurst
Troy Fumagalli

All yall saying you cant draft a TE in the 1st round are just stupid. We need a TE, who the frick says he cant do what we need him to do this year if hes drafted in the 1st? Really? We just need him to have like 400/500 yards and 8/10 TDS. There's been a million Rookie TEs do that.

Why not go for the top TE in the draft in Troy Fumagalli? Watched him light up more than a few teams over the past 2 years, including LSU.

Because the last time we reached on a player of need we ended up with fricking Stephone Anthony.
Some of you need to get a damn grip. We all want BPA, if it’s a TE, that’s cool, if it’s not most of you will melt. But most draft pundits, not message board posters, don’t have any TE’s outside of Goedert, worthy of the first two rounds.
I’d rather spend 27 on the BPA at either DT, DE, WR or LB if there’s a player there that’s graded higher than Goedert

My question is how much of a gap separates the worst of these 5 from the best?
My experience with the Saints is that they find great value for guys in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds that fit esp on offense
So if you combine our recent success in the middle round with the fact that the top 5 TEs are bunched together pretty closely (plus you'll have Drew Brees throwing them the ball) why not trade back, get one of the TEs you wanted in the first while acquiring another pick

There I fixed it for you.

Not true at all. Most have Hurst and Goedert both going in the 1st round.

We always go BPA regardless.

legitimately curious where you saw Hurst going in the 1st?
if we do stay in the first round, I want someone on the DL. WRs are a dime a dozen, especially the way the Saints find them, and while I really like LVE, we are loaded at the LB position just by sheer number of bodies (not necessarily talent)
