The safeties really need to be able to diagnose, like an MLB. They are traffic control. The LBs need to be able to quickly discern between pass and run, and drop into space to close passing windows.

Does that put a guy like AJ Haulcy in play in later rounds? He's not an explosive athlete. But he has tremendous instincts and anticipation

giving him 30m seems crazy.

"seems"? not, it doesn't "seem" crazy, it IS crazy...

I'm am not saying any of you are wrong about the number being presumably too high, however, at 30M if you look at 2025 APY, he would fall 8-10 in money ranking. But, Olave is, including TEs, 7th in catches, 8th in yards, 9th in TDs, and 7th in targets. He will fall in around 7th or 8th in money, I would assume with some injury protections centered around concussions.

You’re correct.
I was wrong in hoping for a 25mil per. Nope. The way he and Shough connected was not missed by anyone. In the year Olave was drafted players had better speed, arms, hands, size and radius. But every single pro, coach, draft expert etc said the same thing on Olave, “best route runner in the draft by far”. Our new qb seemed to agree. And the earlier you sign the studs the more you save. Something Jerry Jones still hasn’t learned.

I love Haulcy and that is not being a homer. He has great instincts and really improved our defense. Delane was the star, but Haulcy was the glue.

If we went Love in the first, I’d love to drop a little in the second and pick up Haulcy. I think where we are in the second is a little high, and we have a lot of holes, so added picks would help.

Sanker is a player, but we need another Safety. Haulcy would thrive, but he isn’t Downs.

Reese and Downs are exactly the kind of player you need in this system. Getting either one of those guys moves us closer to elite on the defensive side of the ball.

With Moore’s system, we could become suffocating. It would truly be offense and defense being a perfect match.

Think 09. That defense wasn’t great but they got lots of turn overs. The more you have Sean and Brees the ball, the more good shite would happen. The Saints would get up on teams and that hid the defense’s weaknesses and allowed them to play to strengths.

Moores offense grounds you into dust. It wears you down and beats on you. Look at his TOP historically. If a D can get a bunch of 3 and outs, it will shorten the game significantly and that is an advantage for a scheme like Moore’s.

That’s my take, not anything that was discussed.

I know I’ll get DVed and people will roll their eyes but whatever…

Olave isn’t a 1. If you can find that guy on a rookie deal, then 30m is fine. If you are going to give him 30m and he’s your 1, that’s a mistake.

Of course I’m a dude on a message board and not an NFL exec, so…

He’s an elite route runner but for me it’s how he immediately goes down after the catch. Every time. Zero attempt to get YAC. I get why he’s doing it but I’d rather they not pay him 30 mil a year. Shough has already shown the ability to elevate those around him.

Your average plodder, maybe. But no, backs like Barkley and Bijan do not grow on trees. Anyone turning their nose up at an elite RB for Shough clearly can’t admit that an elite RB CAN make a difference, especially in Shough’s case.

Bain looked slow and plodding on the field

Bain looks like he will outgrow being a stand up edge rusher. He was disruptive against lesser competition, but I think his build is going to be a problem for speed/agility at the next level (at least for the long term).

I’m torn on him, because he CAN be very disruptive
