We had the chance to get him cheap for a 3rd rounder.
Stupid with a rookie QB to waste a 3rd for a rental
This team values high character and intelligence. Tomlin shipped him off for a reason, they were never going to get in on him no matter the talent

Alec Pierce would be a heckin' elite addition for the New Orleans Saints.
Coming off a breakout 2025 season where he posted 1,003 receiving yards and averaged a league-leading 21.3 yards per catch, he has established himself as a premier deep threat in football.
Why he fits New Orleans
Deep-Ball Menace: He is a master at hauling in dongs, which perfectly complements a Saints offence that often lacks a vertical "X" receiver to stretch the field.
Physical Profile: At 6'3", he provides the size and jump-ball ability the team has missed, serving as a massive target in the red zone.
Prime Age: At just 25, he is entering his prime and has shown consistent improvement in his route running and efficiency every year.

This team had the least amount of talent in the nfl. No players made the top 100 lists. Olave was a concussion away from retiring last offseason and seemed to want out. I think it was worth the gamble as insurance and to add talent. We woulda lost out on twenty something spots to add him instead of Vele in the draft. But no doubt he is a headache.
I said a receiver corps of Pickens, Olave, and Shaheed would be one of the best out there.

He will probably get 25 to 30 a year in free agency.

Wait, you still think the saints should have gone after Pickens? Dallas fans were ready to kill him. The last thing and i mean the literal last thing this rebuilding team is a head case like Pickens. We already dealt with Thomas and it was a nightmare. Still acting like we should have traded for Pickens is the definition of stupidity. My god!!

Do you even read what you wrote? Yeah, that would be a great we corps. All 3 of them are due new contracts. That is not how you run a team.

Last year was the year to get him to see how he meshed with the coaches and locker room on a trial run. But we went with Vele instead.
Thank God saints gms didnt listen to you.

Do you? Olave almost retired last offseason. No doubt our receiver core would look great with Brandon Cooks as our number one if that happened. Shaheed could still get traded even with Pickens on the roster.

The talent level would be so much higher then right now if they started years ago.

No not really. I think they were content with testing out Bub Means. He got hurt and we traded for Vele a week later.

What’s weird is you think you’re some sort of gm and you write these things for everyone to hear? So, your genius idea was to trade a 3rd rounder for Pickens, then have Shaheed and Olave and all 3 of them needing new contracts and Spencer Rattler at qb in a rebuilding year? And that somehow gets us what going into this year? The same thing we have now? Needing to pay Olave who jjsy had 100 catches and 1300 yards while playing half the season with Rattler? And you still think it’s a good idea to sign Pickens to a long term deal? With this young team and young qb? You can’t be that stupid. There’s no way

Absolutely not.

Hell no on pickens. I think saints shouldn't pay Olave either though. Especially not a long term deal.

He has neaux idea how to pronounce Shough or he doesn’t kneaux how to be clever. Who kneaux’s if he’ll ever figure it out? It’s painful that he hasn’t yet.

frick that guy. He’s Michael Thomas x10 headcase.

I’ve been pretty adamant over the years on here about drafting Branch over Foskey and Achane over Miller. Also said we should have drafted Manhertz the year he came out and he’s the top guard in the league right now. Throw in Pickens, and that’s at least 4 players in the top 50-100 in the league where we had zero in the offseason.
But whatever u say….
Posted on 2/1/26 at 3:14 pm to Townedrunkard
Except where you would’ve drafted Ezrabuke over Shough so we could tank for Arch or Nuss Bus
