To say he's meaningless to the team is a bit premature

I wouldn’t say that either, but I hope people aren’t putting too much stock in his selection. The odds are stacked against him in more ways than one, and the Saints have a deep, talented roster. They obviously have some sort of vision for him, but let’s see what the kid can do. Spot on the team is far from guaranteed, much less being some successor to the TH role.

At least let the guy play a down before you bash him. He might be a starting receiver for us by year end. He doesn’t have much competition aside from MT and Sanders. 3rd receiver spot is wide open. Trust the front office. Who cares if it doesn’t work out. It is just a 6th. They obviously have a plan for him and wanted him. Don’t assume you have the situation figured out.

This is a pick I’m fairly sure Ireland did not sign off on.

Is there any, I mean even a remote iota, of credence to what you're saying here?....or is this just " I have a gut feeling"

What in god's green earth is your basis and source on saying Ireland did not sign off on this?

How do some of you post things to utterly stupid on here?

Next time, type it out, then read it aloud to yourself and see if sounds equally as stupid in your head

What the frick are you even saying? It’s all bullshite conjecture from you.

He didn’t fit a position? It’s the Taysom role, genius. What do you even mean Payton had to “figure out” his value and it “took a minute”? They knew exactly what they were selecting and the reason for it during the draft.

Just stop posting

You’re not factoring-in that we kept a Taysom style player from a rival team with an OC who knows our system.

I’m completely confused by your statement being that you are an Atlanta fan according to your username. #neverforget28-3

6th and 7th round picks are meaningless anyway
You have better chance with undrafted free agents
Sticking
Sounds like Payton was bored and wanted to needle joe Brady
I doubt Stevens sticks anywhere
Saints probably release him anyway

My first thought is giving up a 6 for a 7th can never ever be considered a reach by any standard whatsoever.

Kid has the size and athleticism to get on the practice squad as a slot / TE project. I trust Ireland to find diamonds. Gave up nothing.

The pub of this may still keep him from the Panthers if he gets waived by Saints which is a bonus.

Of course. But

is not a question. It’s a pretty strong declaration.

change my mind.

Seems like your mind is made up. Even if it weren’t, I certainly don’t give enough of a frick to change it.

We’ve got 2 pretty old TEs on the roster. Drafted a guy in the 3rd round that will make the team and hopefully be ready to contribute like Cook in ‘21. Maybe Stevens becomes a Hill replacement in a couple of seasons. Except more athletic and cheaper.

Btw, Taysom Hill was an undrafted free agent who got cut from his first team.

Ok, he was also a player who didn’t fit a position. And he really didn’t on our team until we figured out his value, which took a minute.

But some people think he's the future at QB and will lead us after Brees.

If you are confident he is going to be useless then don’t post under your alter.

743 post in 10 years and you start a thread and post 5 times in this one.

I always like it when Payton takes a project late. He gets very creative in his play calls and usually the veterans benefit.

This was primarily insurance for Taysom should he miss games, just like Bridgewater, & now, Winston, were insurance for a Brees absence.

Sean likes game-planning packages for a legit versatile threat like Taysom, and now, Tommy, if necessary. That gadget element ensures that it is not going away from gameplans any time soon.
