Exactly. Archie is playing 4D chess by not allowing Arch to enter the 2026 draft and get taken by the Aints with the first pick.

Loomis is a genius and matching his wits. We will pass on drafting a qb next year and Shough will start in ‘26 and lead us to getting Arch.

on it's face, it's not a terrible idea, but if that was the play, then it makes taking Shough even worse... we could have achieved that same outcome just going with Rattler as starter this year... that's what's really frustrating about the pick...
the outcome will likely be the same, whether Shough or Rattler is the starter... the thing is using the 40 pick to get a QB that gives us the same outcome as just going with what we have already, you didn't use that pick to get better at another position, while having that piece to also carry on the roster in the future... now you have a QB who will sit behind whoever we pick this next draft or the year after, while achieving NOTHING with him

The cardinals punted on Josh Rosen after 1 year for Kyler Murray. And Rosen was the 10th overall pick.

many here had that concern. why not wait until you could grab a franchise QB? did we really think shough would be that? or just a fill in and flop? we had this talk years back. shoulda never gotten carr. use a cheap fill in until we can draft a stud. if shough is nota strud we wasted a pick where we coulda gottena good OL or DL. and we are back to drafting another QB next draft.

i'm firmly of the "many" you are speaking of... i'll gladly, however, admit I was wrong, if Shough does end up being "the guy", but I'm not expecting to be wrong on this one
