TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
200 AM EDT SUN AUG 10 2014
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. A tropical wave located just offshore of the coast of west Africa
is producing an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Any development of this system is expected to be slow to occur over
the next several days while it moves to the west at 15 to 20 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.
That is one of the more robust waves to come off of Africa this season. Both the Euro and the GFS were kind of trying to spin up something with it a couple of days ago but then backed off. The 00z GFS/GEFS from last night are back to trying to do something with it. There is this one small issue:
If something were to develop, a pretty big "if" at this point IMHO, then the 7 - 10 day range pattern looks like it would tend to drive it towards the Western Caribbean / Gulf. A lot can change in a week but right now it looks like there is just too much SAL out in front and to the north of the system.

Christ have mercy. Just stop already.
It's cool if you wanna troll and make fun of yourself, but quit taking yourself so serious and making statements like you know what you're talking about.

Not surprisingly, NHC has been slowly backing down from that odd 40% 5 day. The timing of the AEW and the suppressed portion of the KW were a bit off allowing that initial burst of convection. However, that window didn't ever appear to be big enough to allow genesis. The wave is still worth monitoring but doesn't appear to have much of a future at this point.

Well how are the area teachers supposed to get a break from work if we don't have a hurricane to knock power out for a week??
