I-220W between Airline and the Bridge just closed because water is across both lanes.
ETA- I just read that the I 20 exits to I 220 are closed also. That makes no sense.

The spillway at Bistineau is now flowing backwards. River backing up into loggy bayou which is now backing up into Bistineau. South Bossier parish is now at serious risk.

Firefighters apparently told them a plan. But no, there are no plans currently to evacuate the Haven.

caddo lake is also backing up 12 mile bayou, which is flowing violently backwards over the spillway. there are hundreds if not thousands of homes that will be flooded tonight north east of caddo lake. please be thinking about my family and friends that are in harms way.

by LSUzealot So have they said ANYTHING about an evacuation at the haven?
Not a word. As far as I know, the levees and pumps are doing their jobs.
When I built my house in The Haven, I knew that the river would have to rise 15+ feet before it threatened our neighborhood. I figured it was a possibility, but not a likelihood. The river hasn't gotten this high in 70 years, and that was before locks and dams and better river control. Am I in a flood plain? Nope. Did I hedge my bets and buy flood insurance starting about 5 years ago? I certainly did. I figured for $400/year, it couldn't hurt to hedge my bets just in case something did happen.
I don't think anybody in The Haven is asking for pity. But we're also not asking for people to be assholes, either.

Yeah everybody is looking at the river itself but the odds are that the backwater flooding of caddo, cross, and bistineau could impact a lot more people. Twelve mile from caddo has been raging since January with pines dumping. Loggy bayou sounds like its bad.

I'm wondering how the levee system is holding up between Sport and Ellick. When the Mississippi gets high they have to patrol the areas looking for sand boils. Somebody told me the Natchitoches port is underwater now.

Just make a dramatic short movie and it doesn't make you look so stupid.

Gumbo - hope everything works out and you stay dry over there.

Thanks, man.
Barring a levee breach or a rise in the crest of over a foot or so, we're going to stay dry. The street drains are mostly empty, and the ponds are being pumped, so if water does start to get in, it has a few places to go before it gets to houses.

That's my relatives' land on the Bossier side. Hope the reservoir isn't affected.

That pic is a few days old. The water is across 220 right next to the reservoir. They shut down that stretch of road yesterday afternoon.

This is from Sunday June 7 at Lock and Dam No. 5 south of Shreveport.
There is usually a huge drop in water level on the downstream side, and the fishermen have to carefully find their way down the rocky bank to the water. Not any more. They snagged a few while we were there.

Just received pictures from our employees at the Boardwalk. When I worked there I never thought it would get that high.

I was at our camp and on the lake a week ago and it was damn close to flowing backwards then. I think this has only happened once, maybe twice before. Grandfather told me he has only seen it once and that was like 40 years ago.

So Bistineau is going to get pretty nasty?
