We got my son one for Christmas and he’s enjoyed printing all kinda toys and stuff. I’ve used it a little to print our Mardi Gras krewe logo for some beads

You could always try to print some fishing tackle. Neat little hobby

I realize I have a background different than most having a mechanical engineering degree. But I've made plenty of useful things where the is no commercial option available. I have fusion 360 and can pretty quickly pop out customized storage for tools and stuff. For golf, there is this training aid to hold alignment sticks that costs like $150 and I just found a file where someone created their own and printed it for probably $5.
It was a Christmas present for my son a few years back and he just prints fidget toys and stuff, and he goes in and out of realizing it exists.

I’ve got 2 3d printers. I have a high resolution resin printer and a regular filament 3d printer.
I’ve never printed something I didn’t design. But, I use them fairly regularly. I used the resin printer to design my wife some custom jewelry, which I printed out to verify sizing and design and then had them made for her.
I’ve printed lots of props for theater stuff, housings for electronics, small plastic car parts, etc.
If you create stuff, they are amazing. Just to print stuff you can already buy, they would be useless.

I have more tools than the average person. I build crap all of the time, and just last week built a full kitchen of custom cabinets for a flip house I am doing. I would say that's pretty creative shite, wouldn't you?
3D printing just doesn't make sense to me. It may to you, and that's great. No need to take my opinion personally over it and curse about it.

We manufacture valves. Print in 3D for various reasons. 3D cutaway of a valve so you can see what is happening inside the valve is absolute nails from a communication standpoint. We have 3 at the office. We are in oil and gas.

You can do that now. Search food printing. It appears to be big in Europe.

Go into business selling Glock switches. I remember the guy that put a free file online to print up a fully functioning AR-10 or AR-15. The gubmint showed up and shut him down within days.

Nephews have one they fight over time for, but it's mostly to make goofy shite. Work has one for modeling new builds. The naval air station in corpus had 4 massive ones to make parts that weren't available for purchase anymore. About all I got

Most files online are fidget toys or comic book/video game models that don't interest me, and I would still have to sand, prime, and paint to make them look decent
A 3D printer is a tool. You are wanting it to be a toy.

I like how you purposely skipped the part in my OP where I stated I can see the usefulness of it for broken/missing parts. Even as a tool, it doesn't make sense for most people to own it just for the rare occasion they need it.
Many people treat it as a toy/hobby primarily and it's boring in that instance

You bought it to use as a toy to make legos and BS. We use ours daily in an engineering setting.

BREAKING NEWS!!!
There are a lot of hobbie out there and not all of them are for everyone. More at 6pm.
Come on, stout. Be better. This is like an OweO circa 2021 level post.

Couldn't you have bought this from Amazon or Temu for not much more?
Likely but I enjoy choosing a template and customizing it
