Serving warrants are one of the most dangerous things you can do.
I would hate to be the person who has to knock on the door.
They must have believed this to be relatively low risk. Or they got a little complacent and grouped up and were ambushed in a vulnerable position.

This guy ended up being the ex-boyfriend of a girl living in the home with her mother and other siblings. He had prior arrests for stalking and harassment and had been trespassed from the property and had a restraining order. Neighbors say he had recently burned the womans truck in their driveway, was known to carry around an AR, and had fired random shots before. Police suspected he was in the area again.

Our system seems badly tilted towards the freedom of criminals and away from the protection of society.
Time for a serious re-examination of our legal processes.
