They need to do red wasps next. frick those assholes. They serve no purpose other than ruining a person’s day.

ETA: I changed my mind. Releasing 750 million red wasps seems like a HORRIBLE idea.

How does anyone get 750 million skeeters at any one time?

There are a lot of creatures that depend on mosquitoes as a food source.

It takes a while for the total population to go down. The regular male mosquitoes are still breeding.

Just keep pumping GMO mosquitoes in and slowly taper it off so the food chain can adjust.

Are you a fan of genetically engineered mosquitoes or does it freak you out?

They can release all 750 million in my back yard if it'll kill off the population of the female biters!

Time to put these creatures on notice. Start being more productive or find a new food source. Time to pump up those numbers.

I’m not sure 2020 is the year to decide to try this

My guess is that not all will die at the larva stage, with the surviving ones introducing new genetic traits into the general mosquito population. What could possibly go wrong. ??

I have no doubt how we humans get wiped off the face of the earth, and it has nothing to do with asteroids or aliens.

This project will be the first of its kind in the US, but follows on from a similar trial in Brazil in 2016

Isn’t that the same year there was a major Zika outbreak in Brazil??

Pairs of House Sparrows were released in New York starting in the 1850s. Anybody that knows anything about cavity nesting birds i.e (Eastern Bluebirds, knows what little rat bastards House Sparrows are! Perfect example of why we shouldn't do things like this.

So they are releasing an additional 750 million genetic mosquitoes to fight with other mosquitoes or to increase the overall population?

I'm pretty skeptical about all of this. What's next genetic bats to combat the mosquito outbreak?
