this may mean whatever plans you wanted to do would be messed up if you could not communicate with them. u had to swallow and say, "hello Mr. Whoever, can I speak to him/her", and he would reply "he or she is eating dinner!!…"o.k. sir could you have them call me back"?

You never called and said, "is Cindy/Bob there?"

"Yes, he/she is here." *click*

That *click* is something else they will never experience.

the worst part of only having a few tv channels was late at night at grandmas house in the summer. My only options were star trak or mama's family. And I couldn't talk on the phone because she only had one phone and it was in the living room beside a rocking chair. Have you ever tried to talk on the phone for two hours sitting in a rocking chair? BRUTAL.

Parents have a good idea how kids are doing throughout the semester. You can log on and see your kids grades, missing assignments etc, at any time. If the kid has a really bad grade in a class you usually will get an email. There is no reason a kid shouldn't succeed in school with how much technology helps them, and parents, stay in tune with what's going on at all times.

Kids do this all the time

The difference is that most kids did back then. Just a few do now.

We also didn't keep any kind of time. The game was over when the first street light came on.

Not getting to hear any song you wanted at any time. I remember waiting all day to hear a song on local radio I requested. It was epic when it finally came on.

The moment of pure rapture when you could make just manage to see a titty, or when the stars truly aligned and you saw a vagina, on the squiggly channel. Those were defining moments in a child’s life back in the late 80’s/early 90’s.

Possibly, I guess it depends on the area. Both jobs I work require me to be out in the public. I've seen kids on almost every block playing either football or basketball it seems like, weekends or evenings on weekdays. Other day saw some playing hide and seek, seems it was at least 10 of them.

Waiting by the radio for that song you loved to hit record.

Running into a video store on a Friday night after school to see that the game/movie you wanted had one copy in behind the display box.

There was just something about that payoff for things like the above that the on demand/instant gratification options of today don't quite provide (at least for me). It made things just a little bit more enjoyable.

I didn't get violent beatings. I got regular arse whippings like all kids got back then.

You seem like a real punk little bitch. I'm sure Mommy and her cuck that you called Daddy made sure you knew. "Nothing is your fault, Sweetie."

Your obsession with calling people you don’t know cucks, makes it seem like you know your wife is or has cheated on you

Not having instant access to porn. And having to wait until your parents went to bed on Friday nights so you can watch Cinamax after dark.

Nowadays with grades posted immediately online... kids these days don't have that stress-free time period between report cards when mom and dad would be in the dark on how much the kid has been slacking off.

Also seems like every kid has a 5.4 GPA, somehow

They will never get all the neighborhood kids together in a vacant lot to play football. It's a sunny afternoon with a warm breeze, you huddle up, someone goes long, drawing out routes on your hand, etc.
