You seem to be bringing up BRPD, but now you're saying it's not about BRPD?

I suggested keeping media involved.
To do what?
A weekly update where they announce they have no new evidence, no current evidence, no leads, and no updates?
What will that do, exactly?

I assumed by you and some that I have too much compassion and optimism to expect as much.
Your attempts to sky scream and try to drag this into an emotional discussion aren't going to work. Trying to paint people as bad for understanding reality just makes your attempt at an argument look even worse.
Nobody is happy about this situation, but rational, non-emotional people understand what reality is.

They haven't.

Yeah, I mean, it’s not the thief’s fault he broke into your locked car and stole your stereo.
Amirite?

Sometimes the solution requires making a deal with a demon in order to catch the devil.
This worked for us in the ME and AFG when hunting HVT’s.
You find the power players in the area and make offers few will refuse. Whether it be cash, security or turning a blind eye to future criminal activities in exchange for intel on the person(s) involved.
The shooters were likely low level thugs with little or nothing to lose. Someone with more street cred and rank in the game knows who did it. Lean on those people and I’m willing to bet it will prove fruitful.

Has nothing to do with “rights to personal property and right to bear arms”.
With rights come responsibilities. I know people who keep a pistol in vehicle, and don’t bother to lock the door. When their gun inevitably gets stolen, they just buy another one, and store it the same way.
In fact, I’d bet some of the ones griping about her murder not being solved have had had pistols stolen from their vehicles.

Cut off the $ and cancel the tickets. Did it several years ago after 25 years and never looked back.

my kids will not be attending any school in this state post HS,
When my kid was a senior, he applied to LSU. As an LSU grad, it was hard but I kept pushing him to consider other alternatives. The main reason I didn’t want him going to LSU is how BR has changed so drastically for the worse without any sign that anyone is interested in stopping the decline. He chose to go to a school with a better scholastic rating located outside the state of LA.
For 5 or 6 weekends a year, it’s hard to find a better place than BR but it really is teetering on the edge of shithole status the other 350 days.

Is there really no way to use the various security cameras in that area to find where this person walked after the shooting?

That shite only exists in movies and would likely nerf the prosecution, ultimately.

While i agree with you on weekly updates, they make movies and tv series about old court cases all the time an bring them to life, or get people out of jail.
So there is something about media attention.

Person who is legally allowed to purchase and possess a weapon has their rights violated because someone stole from them and you want to put the onus on the victim for the actions of the murderer?
frick off
frick off

It was dark, at night, and I doubt they have any way to identify anyone on any cameras (and I imagine the number is low). This area is pretty desolate, IIRC.

I'm sure there will be media on this some day, but the scenarios you're referencing are the opposite. Those cases typically have lots of evidence that gets attacked. This is a case that, presumably, has no evdience.
