I know you meant this as a dig, but if more people would actually try to look at the facts and form their own objective opinion instead of going off of raw emotions and initial reactions then we wouldn't have this mess at our doorstep. Nothing like getting your opinions from celebrities and athletes to get a well rounded dose of information.

The both pull their firearm. Guy by his legs shoots first. I know that the talking heads have said one guy yells gun (by his feet) and the other guy responds with shots. I don't think so.

Again, yes we do. Multiple eye witness accounts have stated they talked. The store owner himself said they were talking when he walked out, just before he started filming. Stop being obtuse.

Has there been any official word on why exactly the police we called to the scene in the first place? and is there any footage of the police first arriving on scene? Sorry, out of the loop

This is entirely correct. This is standard that must be met to either prove or disprove.

My entire point is they shouldn't be criticized for trying to resolve the situation without opening fire.

God damn

Easy champ.

I know that. I was just reiterating what you said.

They were called to the scene because a male fitting the victims description was threatening someone outside the store with a gun.

They were called because a man matching his description was waving a gun and pointing it at people.

Nothing released as of yet.

The suspect was reported to have a gun by MULTIPLE sources.

Wrong. According to the store owner he was not even the suspect, so the cops shouldn't have pulled their guns. He died for resisting and going after the gun after the fact..

911 got a call about a man brandishing a gun. There's audio of the dispatcher's call to the cops.

Not yet. They supposedly have dash cams.

Not true at all.

And yes, multiple sources have reported he had a gun. The store owner himself said so.

quote:

Muflahi said he did see the officers remove a weapon from Sterling's pocket after they shot him. As a convicted felon, Sterling wouldn't have been permitted to have a gun, but Muflahi and others who knew him said he kept one to protect himself from robbers.

Store owner states Sterling bought gun a few days earlier

Think you are arguing for no reason. The store owner is one of the first to say they pulled a gun from his waist.

Yeah my fault. I realize now you were agreeing, but there are still others responding who completely missed the point.

I'm also not sure why the second video looked worse to many people. If anything, it cleared it up. The shoot is starting to look cleaner as it goes. Looks like they lost control of one of his hands and he leaned forward for the gun so they shot him.

People have a misunderstanding of the threshold for what justifies a killing in that situation.

I can't say that it was a perfectly handled situation, or that Alton should have met his demise. But the police don't need a gun drawn, cocked, and pointed at them first to justify a shooting.

That said, there could be video of him pointing a gun at the cops and there would still be an uproar over the shooting. The media needs clicks and Gary Chambers has a career to think about.

Pretty old but relevant I guess.

I don't think most people understand how quickly things happen in a fight like that where guns are so close. There are even situations where a cop has his/her gun taken in a fight with an unarmed person and is shot.

News reports are specifically stating the call came in to say Sterling was selling CDs and waving a gun at someone.

Is your assertion that the store owner is stating there were 2 guys in red shirts waving a gun?

That keeps getting twisted. The store owner wasn't the one who made the call. Have you listened to the dispatch? It specifically named someone selling CDs on the corner and wearing a red shirt.

The store owner has said that Alton wasn't doing anything wrong to have the cops called. But he's in a position where if he says anything, he has to side with Alton.
