And to prove people wrong.
You mean to just be the contrarian in every thread to stir the shite, which is your whole posting theme.
Like arguing with people that his hands are "up" when they aren't even above his shoulders.

Did we find Carmen San Diego yet, or has nothing come of this?
I'd love to see tall fools argue back and forth IRL

Oh give me a break.

It's really hard to tell.
Sure, it is shitty quality. It is very easy to tell his arms aren't straight up over his head.

Some say that is when guns could have been drawn and pointed instead of tacking a presumably armed man.
"Police are too aggressive and quick to draw their guns. Unarmed black men are shot needlessly because of it."
The police tried every tactic to AVOID getting guns involved with an armed and dangerous perp with a violent criminal history.
"Police should have drawn their guns sooner and this tragedy wouldn't have happened."

You want to tell me he's got his hands up? I'd say it's just as likely he's shrugging his shoulders. Kinda hard to tell from that shitty picture.

Keyboard tensions are escalating on WBRZ's Facebook.

Think about this: The cops are called in to a suspect flashing a gun. The cops are on edge knowing that this situation is in a bad area of town and the suspect is armed.
Now, ask yourself this question. Why did it get to the point of tasering? Obviously, Sterling was being defiant and wasn't complying to verbal commands. So, the situation is elevated to a whole new level. The cops taser him...
The tasering isn't knocking him down. The cops try and take him down (still knowing he's armed with one gun and who knows what else). For all the police could know, he's armed with a gun and a knife.
Sterling still isn't complying with the officer's. Didn't they say:
quote:
Officer 1: “He’s got a gun! Gun!”
Officer 2: “If you fricking move, I swear to god.”
Officer 1: “He’s going for the gun!”
Officer 2 gave him another command not to move. Obviously, in this split-second, heat of the moment situation, if you are the suspect you should know to be frozen at that particular time. Any slight movement towards the location of the weapon and the officer's are going to use whatever means necessary for their safety.

This should really /thread.

I pointed this out earlier as well. Some cops can be assholes, but the double standards they face with certain situations is really incredible.

That is the question.

No doubt. Completely agree.

That is the question.
I don't believe the police went in and just shot him with a taser. I'm sure they gave verbal commands such as, "Turn around and put your hand on the vehicle" or "Turn around and spread your legs and arms" or "Turn around and put your hands behind your back." And, obviously he wasn't complying with them.
So, in turn, he elevated the officer's tension to the second level. They tase him. It isn't really phasing him and he isn't going down.
That raises their tension to the third level. Physically getting an armed suspect down. He's obviously struggling with the officers instead of just getting down and spreading out like a snow angel.
In turn, putting their tension at an all-time high...
Like I said, they don't know if he only has one gun. He could have a knife, a screw driver, a needle, whatever...
Officer shouts out, "He has a gun!" The second officer acknowledges this by giving a verbal command, "If you fricking move, I swear to God". As I mentioned earlier, they don't know how many weapons he is possibly armed with. Any slight movement by the suspect is going to trigger the ultimate defense mechanism in the officer...

All the uproar and lack of logic in the BR case makes me wish some of these police departments would just say frick it and pull out of areas that they're "not wanted" or "shamelessly killing black men". If they're so concerned about their safety, maybe they should just give self policing a go at it.

I don't either...

Yeah, this is probably what happened. Is it what happened? We don't know.

Yeah, this would be great, until that crime would exponentially spread out beyond the ghetto eventually.

I also think you should take into account Sterling's criminal history. He has been arrested I believe 17 times. He knows the protocol. He knows the procedure.

And all that doesn't matter. Many thanks should go out to the people who are stepping up to provide financial support for Mr. Sterling's children and ensuring their college educations are funded, since he is no longer here to be able to do so.

Right, I'm aware.

That 400k in the matter of a few days is pretty impressive. At least the opportunity will be there.
