Elephant Butte is decent at best.

Ruidoso for skiing is Hardly a top destination for stellar skiing. It's usually quite icy and not very good snowfall. It's good for people like you to say their is skiing close by.

That's like saying you want Mexican food go to Taco Bell.

Notice: not one thing IN THE CITY listed to do.

It's pretty limited. Once you've done a few things it's over. It was also listed as the Worst City for Foodies in America. And that's pretty true.

Article published 1/8/14 ... written by a staff member of the El Paso newspaper ... citing the local police and Movoto as the authorities for the article.

Agreed, it's just not that great of a place at all. The only thing that makes El Paso look great is you can look across the boarder into Juarez and be thankful you don't live there.

My uncle who works for the DEA got transferred down there for work. One of their informants was supposed to arrange a meeting with the cartel but instead, the informants head showed on on a tortoise's back. While his group was investigating the tortoise/head blew up, severely injuring some of his coworkers. Luckily he was grabbing an evidence bag and didn't get injured. Really shook him up though.

Hoppy Monk has as good a beer selection as anywhere I have been outside of CA and CO. The brewery scene is weak though.

Franklin Mountain State Park was listed as well as Red Sands is pretty much in the city. Anything else you would want to do in the city is large city things like malls, art scene, etc.
