She was probably diddling herself too.

Lots of people are into EA.

But it’s something best done with a partner. imho.

Hey you ignorant a-hole....

If you can’t grasp what mental illness is I don’t know what else to tell you.

I'd concede it's a selfish thing to do (in a vacuum) if you'd acknowledge that most people who commit suicide are not thinking rationally and the "selfishness" isn't coming from the same place as someone who does something destructive while thinking rationally.

You can't prove that. Mental illness is like pain, almost impossible to prove and furthermore to compare between 2 people.

I hate to say it but I agree with Darth, just because you suffer from something does not excuse your other actions completely. Furthermore, someone like Bourdain made literally 1000s of choices that your average person would not recommend. At some point those choices are his fault.

Sad day. I really enjoyed Bourdain’s shows. Man had the best job on the planet. You just never know.

When I hear about these things (celebrity suicides) it doesn't really surprise me or anything. I don't like to hear about it happening to anyone, but I am never like "OMG! This is such a horrible day".. But I heard this first thing this morning and I actually felt sad.

I have always liked his shows. He wasn't someone who did gimmicky type things, he was natural. And he told a story.. Well. And I actually learned quite of a few things watching him. While I can't remember the episode.. Whether or not it was from his show on the travel channel or CNN, but there was one particular episode that caught my attention, in terms of how talented he was, when it came to telling a story. It might have been an episode when he visited Chernobyl. But I will miss his work.

God, that was a great episode. I will never forget that image of Bourdain busting a cap in Wilbur.

I actually agree with this, but I still think I'm right.

Some people kill themselves out of momentary, overwhelming distress. Happened in my family. There were certainly other underlying issues, but it wasn't out of irrational depression. It was panic and shame.

Overwhelming anxiety directly and almost singularly attributed to work has led to suicides in Japan (and elsewhere, I'm sure).

People with mental illness can still be bad people, and they can still let selfish motives contribute to their decision making. But, nonetheless think those motives are probably amplified or overwhelmingly influenced by the underlying illness.

People love to make this a black or white issue, and it's probably not. We don't want to disparage the dead or the ill and say selfishness or weakness can be a factor - but they can, like any other human occurrence. But, that doesn't mean people who shout about selfishness or weakness in these situations are right, either.

Depends on the severity. He may have just decided that life couldn't get any better and checked out. Could have been a relapse, could have been a large number of things.

It's definitely not. Some don't understand that when in the throws of depression, it's sometimes not physically possible to think rationally.

From what you have posted here we know that you expect people suffering form a mental illness to make rational well thought out life decisions, that alone shows you have no understanding of the problem.

Article from last year:
I'd never been in a gym in my life. I was 35 pounds overweight, a chain smoker, flabby, zero cardio. Taking stairs was not fun.

No one said it was right. And it’s not defending as much as empathizing so we can help people like her dad.

You've seen some stuff. It’s obviously made you very emotional about the subject. That doesn’t make you right. It just means you haven’t matured enough to realize there’s more to it than you see.

I’m not trying to insult you. About 11 years ago, I was just as immature.

The title of the fricking article you just quoted

quote:

Anthony Bourdain Tells Us How He Got These Insane Abs

quote:

From 35 pounds overweight to shredded at 61. If our favorite chef can do it, so can you

Are you mentally handicapped? It’s an article about how he started jiu-jitsu and got in extremely good shape.

I was referencing Nurses story about her dad and others like that. We don’t know Bourdains story yet, but the general sentiment still stands.
